I. When stars meet, the universe feels the impact of their force. The closer an object gets, the slower time moves around it. The Greeks called this force Chronos, the god of time, the greatest threat.

II. Raindrops fade into each other, combining into rivers streaming down windows and snaking down blacktop rails of iron and steel.

III. When we met, time slowed down, and the world exploded in a light so brilliantly blinding, it silenced everything around us.

IV. We inhabited our own universe, watching the world race by through small rain-streaked windows, never looking too close or too long at the rising waters.

V. The raindrops turned to rivers that lived on the tracks until they washed out our bed, and the tracks collapsed.

VI. The world was a witness to our meeting, but when we crashed, there wasn't a bang, there wasn't a whisper or a sound, and there was no one around to witness.

VII. For a short time, our hearts coalesced, beat as one, heart of mine own, but now, we're left to pick out pieces mixed in with rubble and singed on the edges, and learn how to carry the weight of silence.

VIII. The Greeks never said what you do when the tragedy turns out to be your own.
