i poke my head through the open doors, letting my eyes scan around the room in hopes of finding angelina somewhere. after that night at the taco shop, we had planned to meet in the main art room at school where we'd spend our evening painting together.

"hello?" i called out, stepping further into the room with my hands in the pocket of my black hoodie.

at the very end was angelina. she stood in front of her easel, focusing deeply on her medium-sized canvas. at my voice, her head lifted up and a smile made its way onto her face as our eyes met. it seemed to light up the entire room, in a sense.

"hey!" angelina said back, enthusiastically as she placed the brush in her hand onto the table and walked closer to me. in complete surprise to me, she pulled my body into hers, squeezing my waist as she hugged me for a few seconds. i wasn't quite sure what to do, so i rubbed the side of her arm in a friendly way. "i thought you stood me up."

i shook my head, chuckling. "i wouldn't do that." we began to walk back to the previous place she had been before and my eyes widened when they laid on her work. "oh my god," i said, completely stunned. "you actually did that?"

she nodded her head as she bit her lip. "is it bad?" she asked, sounding a little nervous to hear what my answer would be.

"are you kidding?" i scoffed, pointing at it. "that's nowhere near bad. you're really talented." and it was the honest truth. i'd seen loads of skillful classmates since i've been in this class and i could say that angelina was apart of the top five.

"thank you." she told me. "i've been working on it for weeks now. i'm just adding last minute touches before it goes to the museum." i had remembered that mrs. berlin, the art teacher, had mentioned that one of the museums in palm park would be exhibiting student's art from schools all over the city.

"it will definitely look amazing once it's displayed." i said.

"i hope so."

angelina quickly skipped to the opposite side of the table and held her hands out, revealing an already set up canvas. "i got this ready for you earlier," she explained. she pointed towards the paintbrushes next to a metal cup, "those are your brushes and water."

i started to smile to myself, i found it quite adorable that, not only had she gotten this ready for me, but that she needed to explain what each thing is like i don't know what they already are. regardless, i stand there with an amused expression upon my face and pretend to listen intently.

once she's done, she clapped her hands together and bit her lip. "and that should be it"

i nodded my head. "alright, well thank you for getting all this set up for me. i could've done it myself and saved yourself from the hassle."
