Amelia was home and that had meant two things for Charlotte. The first, a crushing guilt at interfering in a marriage, no matter the state it was in. The second, disappointment at the infrequency with which she could discretely sneak away with Nick. The second thought overpowered the first as she helped Nicholas junior with his homework while his father sat at the other end of the table, watching her with an unfaltering stare.
Charlotte gave Nick a look, trying to communicate without words that he needed to either make himself scarce or throw her down on the table, this middle ground was not working for her. The flash of recognition in Nick's eyes showed that she had communicated herself perfectly. As he stood she felt both relieved and disappointed, until "Nicholas, go help your sister, you can finish this tomorrow" Nick dismissed his son, his fiery gaze never faltering from Charlotte as he did so.
Nick moved towards Charlotte with purpose as she braced herself for what was coming next. She fought hard to hide the shock in her expression as, instead of the passion she'd expected, Nick moved her hair to the side with a tenderness she hadn't experienced before, leaning slowly down to kiss her, his eyes betraying a soft smile aimed at her. Charlotte took all of this in with tentative curiosity, she couldn't deny that his affection was welcome, her feelings for him grew with every interaction and she was in awe of his strength, his humour and his kindness. She just wasn't ready to examine her feelings at this moment, and Nick looking at her like that wasn't helping.
A sound from outside of the dining room startled them out of their tender moment. The air soured as Amelia entered the room, Nick visibly stiffened at her presence and she didn't seem overjoyed to see her husband either. "So sorry to interrupt, but I was looking for my children.. I think you are supposed to be with them?" Amelia smiled sweetly but the undercurrent was clear, you should be with the kids not the husband. Charlotte shot out of her seat and down the hall towards the kitchen, she had no feelings of guilt, especially after the way Amelia has just spoken to her. She knew her day with the children had ended and she had every right to enjoy her own time, just not with the father of said children.
Footsteps could be heard behind her and she turned, half expecting Amelia to have followed her just to get in one more passive aggressive dig. Instead, she came face to face with a furious looking Nick and was promptly pushed into the open doorway of the pantry.
Nick held her face tightly between his hands, checking for any signs of distress "are you ok?" He asked as he continued to scan her face. "I'm fine" she replied weakly, suddenly exhausted she leant into his touch. Nick relaxed at this, pulling her close "she had no right to talk to you that way" he began, anger rolling off him even as he stroked her back "you were off the clock.." Charlotte interrupted him, attempting to calm him down "it's ok, I know that, you know that, she knows that, it's forgotten" she smiled up at him and tension left his body at her words.
Charlotte moved closer to Nick, the subtle scent of his familiar cologne soothed her whilst simultaneously making her aware of their current situation "I know you brought me in here for a not great reason.. but we are now alone, in the privacy of the.." before she could finish her sentence the door was slammed closed and Nick's mouth was on her, his tongue demanding entrance as his hands moved up her sides with tempered control. Charlotte gasped as she was lifted onto the counter, Nick's talented hands were everywhere as he attempted to drive the unpleasant interruption in the dining room from her mind, his kisses frantic over her body as he pulled her dress up and over her head.
Pausing, Nick took a step back, taking her in fully, gaze heated, giving Charlotte just a second to catch her breath before he took it away again. Nick kissed down her neck slowly, worshipping every inch of her skin as he moved his way down and then back up to her jaw, her cheek, her nose and finally her lips. Leaning his forehead against hers he mumbled something Charlotte quickly discounted, he couldn't have possibly said what she thought, instead of analysing she threw herself into a kiss, conveying everything she couldn't yet say.
Something shifted between them as they moved together, a hidden language in every kiss, unspoken words and understanding that came from knowing each other's bodies in such an intimate way. It was almost overwhelming and as Nick slid inside her Charlotte could hardly bare the feelings surrounding her, his affection clear in the way he moved. Charlotte fought against a moan as he thrust into her, kissing her breasts and holding her tightly so he could hit the right spot, the best fucking spot she thought as he found her g-spot with ease, his own movements unsteady as they reached the edge together.
Lost in the moment, neither of them heard the noise in the hallway, the sound of the door being opened from the outside. They didn't see the light slowly seep into the room or the shadow of a figure frozen in the doorway. They did hear the gasp though, and they froze in the realisation they had been caught.
A/N uh oh... who's caught them?
