ALICE
It's another amazing day, waking up snuggled up with Aiden. I've set my alarm as we have to get up early today. I don't want to get up but I promised Matt I'd help sort his paperwork. I shouldn't have told him I did admin!
Aiden's arms tighten around me as I try to leave. "Aiden, I have to get up, remember? You can sleep longer, if you want."
He shakes his head sleepily, eyes trying to open. He still hasn't let go. He's so cute, I can't resist pinching him.
"Owww!" That woke him up. I give him a kiss to say sorry but it doesn't make him let go. I reluctantly break away, I really need to get up.
"You should get some rest before your hospital appointment Aiden, I'll wake you up in a few hours."
I'm finally able to peel his arms away. He nods already half asleep. How was he able to kiss that well when he's not even properly awake? I get myself ready and walk past Aiden who is now sleeping peacefully. I smile as I quietly sneak out the room, I'm sure an earthquake couldn't wake him.
I go down and see that Matt is already finished making breakfast for us. The single guest who had checked in had only wanted cereal. He had a plate for Aiden too, but I put it in the fridge for later. Matt's cooked breakfast is the best, I had asked for veggie again as it was so good last time. Aiden had something to look forward to when he wakes up. I'd noticed that Aiden was reluctant to eat certain meats, so he had veggie too.
When we finish, we chat as we tidy up. "Let me do that Matt, you cooked and I only ate!"
We agree to disagree. I wash up while Matt cleans the table and sweeps up.
"Will you really be able to sort out the whole filing system before Aiden's appointment later?" Matt seems to think it's an impossible task.
I nod, it can't be that bad, it's only two drawers and a box full of random bits of paper. As I get started, the new guest comes down for breakfast. Matt's office is really just a desk and chair in the entrance / living room. There's a couple of shelves and a filing cabinet. The guest leaves for the day making sure to write on the board. That brings back memories.
It only takes me an hour to sort all the papers. By then Matt has cleaned up the whole place. I show him the pile of rubbish I'd cleared out. He agrees that it's rubbish, so it's all good. I set up his desk more neatly, so now he has a list of helplines and contacts at the ready. Also a pile of current brochures. I'd thrown out a lot of old ones.
"Wow I don't know how you did that, I'm ok with cleaning but paperwork is evil! That's why I got into cooking, though I still had to work hard, it had more practical study."
I don't mind if he does all the cleaning! I missed out on a good man, he cooks and cleans. But he can't win over the man of my dreams, literally!
"I'm going to get Aiden up and get ready later, maybe I have enough time for an extra nap."
I didn't get much sleep, we went to sleep late last night. I yawn and make my way back to Aiden. I set my alarm for three hours later, I don't want to oversleep.
I get back into pjs and slide carefully back in bed. I don't want to wake Aiden so I stay on the side. I wake suddenly from Aiden's kiss, the alarm is blaring loudly. I must have been tired. Aiden is propped on one arm watching me. His way of waking me is much better than the alarm. We smile at each other. I push myself up. I have to help Aiden get ready first. It's much less awkward now that we've seen everything!
I want to cut Aiden's hair but I want to talk to him properly first, at the hospital he can use that tree. I'd also had that disturbing dream again and I wanted to talk to Aiden about that too. I know Aiden said I was a seer but I thought that meant seeing the future. So far all my dreams were from the past. I could tell it was the past from the things in the room and the clothes the people wore.
