Matteusz had been scared about the Friday night, partly about his parents (Because he knew they had watched him out the window so they would know that he had kissed Charlie on their door step) but that he would not have to deal with until he got home. Instead it was about the boy he was walking next to, Charlie was looking at the scenery around them nervously fidgeting with the black jacket over his white shirt. Charlie had dressed very out of character from what he had seen of Charlie's personality, the formal tuxedo and crisp white shirt looked out of place for the boy who would usually wear a blue shirt with smudges of paint. Matteusz still thought that he looked nice despite his plainly frightened expression.

In the hall Charlie made towards a girl that Matteusz recognized from the day before, as she turned Matteusz realized it was April Mclean; even though he had not really been friends with her she had worked with him in chemistry last year and he remembered how she had stopped Courtney Woods from making fun of his accent and his English.

"You do not have a date?" Matteusz asked her kindly.

She shook her head sadly.

"Do not worry, you can dance with us." Matteusz suggested.

Matteusz could not hear what Charlie said but he heard the word heart but he could not discern a meaning from the conversation so he decided to interrupt them "I do not understand these signs." Matteusz said looking at the decorations round the hall.

The night had gone fairly well until April collapsed, Tanya rushed to her side while Matteusz ran to find Charlie. He quickly spotted him standing next to their physics teacher Miss Quill, as he reached Charlie's side he said "Something is happening to your friend." before hurrying back through the crowd.

Charlie crouched next to April and while Tanya made panicked suggestions.

Charlie asked the seemingly random question "What can you see?"

Matteusz thought was such a strange question and was equally confused by her gasped reaction "He's opening the tear," then her voice turned harsher and she yelled "where is the prince?" before forcing herself up and running to the doors followed by Charlie, Miss Quill and a bemused Tanya leaving Matteusz for a moment still trying to process the exchange before running after them. They stood at a junction in the corridor looking at two people fighting, Matteusz could not make out the figures through the haze of smoke but he drew his eyes from them to see the others looking the other way at advancing figures.

"Did you hire a band?" Matteusz asked still unable to comprehend the evening's events.

April quickly said "We need to get everyone out." Turning back to the hall dragging Tanya and Matteusz with her leaving Charlie and Miss Quill to deal with the advancing army.

Matteusz watched as April shouted at the crowd of people in the hall but he was still thinking of Charlie and about how he and Miss Quill were still in the corridor but then his thought was interrupted by the doors opening and closing. Matteusz was relieved to see Charlie backing into the room, he was so distracted he did not notice the blasts of blue light until an army of people shrouded in black smoke marched in while April yelled "You're all in grave danger, from the smoke."

Matteusz realized the danger and forced his way to the stage to help April down while the students forced their way to the fire escapes.

The exchange between Charlie, April, Miss Quill and who seemed to be the leader of the creatures made very little sense to Matteusz. From what he gauged April was sharing a heart with the leader who wanted something from Charlie. Then Miss Quill said "Well there's nothing left to do now but to die well." and a man with a Scottish accent walked in and said "I never thought that was possible dying well, who wants to die well. Surely the aim should be not dying well."

Matteusz only understood what was happening when the man said "Well I seem to just have a soft spot for people who are the last of their species, which you have made my friends here." The penny finally dropped. Matteusz realized that Charlie and Miss Quill were aliens and that these creatures must have destroyed their species. The exchange was more understandable to him but he still wanted to ask Charlie about the truth.

While The Doctor fixed Rams leg Matteusz walked over to Charlie and asked "Please can you tell me the truth Charlie?"

"If you never want to see me I understand..." Charlie began.

"Charlie stop, I still love you." Matteusz interrupted sitting down and resting his chin on Charlie's head.

"Ok," Charlie whispered "I come from a planet called Rhodia, my people were the Rhodians."

"Your people?" Matteusz asked pulling his head away to look at Charlie.

"I was a prince," Charlie admitted "I know, but please can I finish."

"Ok you lordship." Matteusz joked wrapping his arms round Charlie.

"Are you making fun of me?" Charlie asked stiffly.

"I was joking please continue." Matteusz explained.

"We were at war with the Quill race; they mismanaged their economy and grew jealous of our success so they began attacking us. While we were distracted fighting each other The Shadow Kin invaded." Charlie stopped as he turned away from Matteusz pulling himself out of the embrace.

"I am sorry." Matteusz said understanding what Charlie was about to say.

"I still understand if you..." Charlie began but he was interrupted by The Doctor leaving his blue box.

Matteusz still love Charlie even though they were born on other worlds, even though Charlie was being hunted by Shadow Kin, even though his parents would probably never talk to him again (Although that might be more of an upside) Matteusz knew that it was strange to go out with an alien but he still loved Charlie no matter of what people, aka; his parents, said. Charlie did not fit in with most other people and he knew that was because Charlie was not human but also he felt like Charlie had not even been normal on his own plant, but still all of this endeared him. All Matteusz knew was that he loved Charlie and that he would not let any number of aliens, or even worse his parents, stop that.
