Matteusz had followed Charlie and Quill. Even with the gun pointed at his head he did not regret it because worse was putting Charlie in danger, and that would never happen. He had sent Tanya a text message that he hoped she would understand, Shadow kills petals.

Their new head teacher pointed the modern black gun purposefully at his head. Matteusz looked at Charlie trying to read his face but Charlie had his usual poker expression; which scared Matteusz because even though Charlie would never use the weapon by will Charlie would use it to save him. Then Matteusz looked at Quill, her expression was clear: anger, annoyance and determination. Charlie had always said she was dangerous but it was the cut on Charlie's cheek that told Matteusz that Charlie had been right, she was ruthless...

Matteusz had still argued with the gun pointed at his head, he would rather die than have to watch Charlie commit genocide.

Then Their new head mistress made her mistake, she turned to Charlie. Matteusz watched as she pointed her gun at his boyfriend. Matteusz' insides flared with anger, he seized the heaviest object he could reached and swung the candle stick down on her head "Even with a gun you should never turn your back on an angry Pole!" Matteusz snapped at the comatose head teacher and threw the gun out the balcony door, as he turned to see their expression so he said "I don't like guns."

Charlie had been about to use the cabinet when April saved them. Tanya had understood the text message. The Shadow Kin destroyed the threat, Quill and Dorathea returned to the school but Charlie and Matteusz stayed.

Matteusz walked up behind Charlie and wrapped his arms round him "What would you have done with it?"

"Would you believe me if I said I didn't know?" Charlie asked turning his head.

"If you want." Matteusz smiled.

"Thank you," Charlie said grinning slightly.

"I'm worried about Quill." Matteusz remarked looking at the cut on Charlie's cheek.

"So am I," Charlie said turning and burring his head in Matteusz' warmth "can we go downstairs I don't want to look at it anymore."

Matteusz understood and kept hold of his hand as they walked downstairs. Charlie sat down drinking a, fifty per cent sugar, cup of tea while Matteusz rummaged through a cupboard for the first aid kit to clean the cut on Charlie's face.

"Charlie, do you want to change the subject?" Matteusz said sitting down next to and pulling an antiseptic wipe out of the first aid box.

"Yes, thank you Matt..." Charlie begun and then stopped midsentence as Matteusz began to clean his cut "Ow, Matteusz that really stings."

"Sorry, but I need to clean it." Matteusz said, he hated that Charlie was in pain but he needed to clean the cut to stop it from getting infected. Matteusz cleaned the cut as quickly as possible and then stuck a plaster over it.

"There done." Matteusz smiled.

"Thanks," Charlie said feeling the plaster "Are you sure I'm okay?"

"Yes, is just a cut." Matteusz laughed stroking Charlie's hand as he felt the plaster.

"It's been another crazy day." Charlie said standing up.

"Part of the Crazy month." Matteusz joked standing to follow him over to the living room.

"Yeah," Charlie said as they sat down on the sofa "Thank you for everything."

"Thank you for the same." Matteusz replied wrapping his arms round Charlie.

"Do you mean it Matti?" Charlie asked.

"Yes," Matteusz said pulling away "Of course I mean it."

"Sorry," Charlie apologised leaning against Matteusz' chest "It's just that..."

"You really do not need to constantly apologise," Matteusz smiled stroking Charlie's hair "You are allowed to be little odd, is very cute."

"Is odd good?" Charlie asked.

"Yes, this version is good." Matteusz said resting his chin on the top of Charlie's head.

They sat there for a minute until the door banged open. Quill walked in and began making coffee. They sat there as if she might not notice them; Matteusz hugged Charlie tightly to protect him. As Quill left the room Matteusz realized she must have been ignoring them. "Why do you think she was so annoyed?" Charlie asked pulling away from Matteusz.

"Probably about us." Matteusz suggested.

"Yeah," Charlie agreed "can we go to bed?"

"Yes." Matteusz said slipping his arms under Charlie and picking him up as he stood.

"What are you doing?" Charlie asked.

"Carrying you," Matteusz answered "do you not like it?"

"Oh, no I do like it;" Charlie said relaxing "it feels safe."

"Yes you are very safe." Matteusz laughed kissing Charlie's forehead. Matteusz was worried about Charlie. Charlie had been about to use the cabinet, Matteusz wondered who he would of used it on the Flesh Eating Flowers or the Shadow Kin? Matteusz was also still concerned about the cut on Charlie's cheek, what it represented Quill would never stop and she was becoming desperate. Matteusz pushed it to the back of his mind, but still made a mental note to lock the door when Charlie was not looking. He needed to focus on Charlie, even though he laughed easily at Matteusz' comment he could see the same questions and fears behind his boyfriend's eyes...
