Author's POV
Along the wide and busy corridors of the hospital sat a father and his 6 year old daughter waiting patiently for the nurse to grant them permission to go inside their loved one's room. The Father, Mr Park, shifted his gaze to the little girl sitting beside him with her long, beautiful hair parted in two pigtails, Park Y / N, at this hour, little Y / N was trying hard not to fall asleep as it was way past her bedtime but after a few minutes of silence the she asked in a worried tone.
"Daddy, is Mommy going to be okay?" she said innocently while turing her head so her little doe eyes could meet her Father's tired and restless ones.
"Yes, honey Mommy will be just fine" answered Mr Park while hugging his daughter as tight as he could in an attempt to keep at least one of them calm. The truth is: he didn't know for himself if everything would turn out alright, his wife had been sick for weeks, unable to help raise Y / N, Mr Park had to do everything from dropping her off to school to earning enough money to support his family, and his ill wife; It was for sure that they weren't the richest family, they could hardly pay the bills. Mr Park's thoughts were interrupted by the nurse, who informed them that they could come in and see Mrs Park.
As soon as they heard that they darted up from their seats hand in hand and entered the room .
"Mommy!" shouted little Y / N while running up to her Mother's hospital bed to give her a warm loving hug.
"Oh, honey look at you" cried the Mother while running her hand down her daughter 's face stopping at her rosy and round cheek to caress it with so much admiration, almost as if it was a fragile artefact.
"How much you've grown from the last time I've seen you" she continued weakly, shedding a tear of happiness as Y / N leaned into her touch enjoying each moment with her precious Mother.
"Where's your Father?" said Mrs Park and roamed her eyes around the room searching one person in particular when suddenly someone sat beside her on top of her bed.
"Right here, Darling" said Mr Park in excitement with a smile plastered across his face as he leaned in and kissed his dear Wife, his eyes in tears, accepting the hard truth and savouring the last moments they will have together as a family; They talked, laughed, cried until their visiting hour was over, the Nurse came in and told them so but they pleaded for a couple more minutes to get one last thing done and so the nurse let them stay.
"Y/N" said Mrs Park, waiting patiently for her daughter to direct her attention towards her.
"I might not be able to see you again, darling;" sobbed Mrs Park as the words could hardly come out, meanwhile, Y/N was confused, why could she not be able to see her mother again?
"So I want to give you one last gift from me, the most meaningful one if you were to ask me" she giggled weakly while leaning over to the little table beside her to reach out to her final gift for her daughter. Y/N didn't want to interrupt her mother so she sat quietly and calmly while holding her fathers hand.
"This;" she said as she opened the box to reveal a beautiful and angelic looking bracelet with some sort of flowers on it.
"Cherry blossoms where always my favourite type of flower, and so one day when I was around your age me and your grandma were going to the park when we came across a jewellery shop where I saw this bracelet, it looked so perfect I had thought to myself that it had been crafted just for me "she explained as she smiled at her daughter's excitement. Y/N, who was in complete astonishment, glanced back at her dad who seemed to be just as excited as her.
"And I want you to have it, Y/N" she cried as she extended her hand towards her daughter and helped her put it on, Y/N starred at it in awe for a while. She thought "How can something this beautiful exist?". After starring at it she quickly jumped up to her Mother's embrace and hugged her as tight as she could and whispered "Thank you, Mommy. I love you" as soon as those words left the daughter's mouth, Mrs Park stopped for a second to process everything and started sobbing quietly as her husband joined them for a final family hug, all three of them in tears as they shared their final goodbyes, leaving their loved one behind with a heavy weight of sorrow on their shoulders, except for Y/N, she forgot about what her mother said earlier about not being able to see each other again and was unclear of the situation.
The duo walked home as they couldn't afford public transportation and most certainly couldn't afford to buy a car. On their way back Y/N couldn't help but ask again:
"Daddy, is Mommy going to be alright? Are we going to see her again?" Mr Park took a couple seconds to answer as he was trying to hold his tears back so he wouldn't worry his daughter.
"Honey, please listen to me;" He said as he turned around and bent to reach his daughter's level
"I don't think we are going to see Mommy again" he spit out reluctantly while looking into his daughter's eyes.
"Why? I want to see Mommy again" replied Y/N not wanting to accept her Father's words, she truly wanted to see her mother again.
"She ... uh-She is going to sleep deeply one day." Mr Park lied, not wanting to cause to much misery to his daughter as his wife was slowly dying and living her last days here with them.
"But I want her to wake up and be with us!" replied little Y/N angrily, while running her hand to her face to wipe her small tears. Mr Park saw this and it broke his heart to pieces so he told her:
"Y/N honey, I want her to wake up too but unfortunately she has to sleep" as he said that he embraced his daughter to calm her crying figure down and carried her back home, and that was it: the last time they ever saw Mrs Park.
