(vera)

The golden Coruscant evening faded into dark blue night, the stars twinkling across the velvet sky, sending out hope and happiness throughout the city. Obi-Wan sat on the floor, peacefully meditating. I sat by the window, looking out across the stars, anxiously awaiting the holocall from Anakin. All sorts of uncertainty swam through my veins, seemingly seeping out into my actions. Tapping fingers, biting my lip, wiggling my leg. I wasn't sure if Padmé was alright, and I wasn't sure what I would do if she wasn't. She's like the mother I never knew. I loved her the way a child would love their parent.

There was a beeping noise behind me, and I snapped out of my thoughts. It was the tell-tale sign of the holocall.

"Hello?" Obi-Wan said as he answered the call.

"The babies have been born!" Anakin exclaimed excitedly.

"Babies?" both Obi-Wan and I said in unison.

"They were twins! A boy and a girl!"

"Aha, I knew it!" I yelled, pumping my fist in the air.

"I'll see you guys when you get to the hospital!"

Anakin ended the call, and I felt all my worries melt away. Padmé was alright. Anakin was alright.

"Come on, Obi-Wan!" I cried, yanking him off the floor by his arm.

"I'm coming! No need to make me and Anakin twins too!" Obi-Wan exclaimed, rubbing his arm.

The two of rushed out to Obi-Wan's ship. I buckled my seat, and sat back, excitedly tapping my feet. Obi-Wan started the ship and flew off the landing pad towards the Coruscant hospital. I was tempted to tell him to go faster, but Obi-Wan, unlike Anakin, actually respected the laws of speeder traffic. After what seemed like forever, Obi-Wan landed the speeder at the hospital and we rushed inside. There was a Togruta women at the front desk, and she directed us to the birthing area.

"Hi," I said as I entered the room, waving at Padmé and Anakin.

"Would you like to see them?" Anakin asked.

I nodded quickly.

Anakin handed me a baby in a blue blanket.

"That's Luke," he said as I looked into the baby's eyes.

When I did, everything suddenly felt okay. He had Anakin's eyes and a patch of blonde hair like him. He was...he was my sibling. And he looked just like me, too.

"Hello, Lukey," I said, my eyes shiny with tears.

Anakin held out and his hands and I reluctantly gave him Luke back. He placed the other baby in my arms, wrapped in a pink blanket.

"This is Leia," Anakin said.

I looked down at Leia's face. She was cute as a button, and the same teary eyed smile from before came back. Her eyes were blue now, but I had a feeling they would turn brown like her mother's. Her patch of hair was brown as well.

"I have a sister and a brother," I said out loud, the words feeling foreign in my mouth. "I...I have a family..."

My voice broke and I began to cry. After years of feeling like no one wanted me, feeling alone and hurt and lost and scared, I finally felt like I was part of something. I finally felt...loved.
