Eleanor Calder sat with her boyfriend Louis Tomlinson as they drove through the dimly lit April streets of Frontbrooke.
"Make a left turn here, our new house is just around the corner." Eleanor instructed Louis. They drove down Riverdale Street and drove past a lovely house with a sign "Frontbrooke's Home For Girls". The sign made Eleanor sigh and think of all the children without a home. The Range Rover pulled into the driveway and the young couple got into the house.
"Lou?" Eleanor said. "Do you think, maybe... I don't know.. maybe we could adopt a child? Just think of those kids without families and homes. It makes my heart ache." Louis smiled.
"If it makes you happy and improves another person's life, I'm all in."

Emma and Ruby sat at the breakfast table, eating pancakes. The terrible food myth about orphanages was really just a myth. Maria was an amazing cook.
"Are you excited for adoption day, Emma?" Ruby asked.
"Well, I've been here for 13 years and have only been adopted twice, but sent back both times. So of course no one's gonna adopt a 17 year old girl. I mean, I'm hormonal, rude and can be a brat at times."
"Well, I love you, Em." Ruby smiled and gave Emma a hug. " Is Emma your real name?" Ruby looked up at Emma and asked.
" Of course. But its a shortened name from my full name."
"Whats your full name?"
"Emmarilys Carys. You know, like the flower 'Amaryllis' . My parents wanted it spelt differently."
" Well I think its beautiful."
Emma and Ruby giggled as they dashed upstairs to get dressed.
At 12:36, Ruby was adopted. Emma and Ruby were disappointed that they were parting ways, but they would keep in touch forever. They were sisters, so of course they would. When Ruby left with her wonderful new family, Emma sat on her bed, facing the empty wall infront of her.
"No one will adopt me. " Emma thought. "But oh well. One more year and I can live on my own."
