Background: Raiden is Amaryllis's only friend (at the beginning of the story.). The two of them were childhood friends that lived next door to each other.
His family is Japanese and they moved to America because his father got a promotion. Upon meeting Amaryllis the two became friends. They came together due to the both of them being loners.
When they were 8 years old Amaryllis told him of her abilities. He didn't believe her at first but he never once thought she was crazy. The two remained friends for years to come, with Amaryllis being the only person that Raiden could bring himself to care about and open up to.
Unfortunately, when Raiden and Amaryllis were 13, Raiden drowned while on a camping trip with his parents. It crushed his family and they moved away soon afterwards.
Amaryllis was heartbroken at having lost her only friend, until Raiden appeared before her and vowed to never leave her side. From that moment forward, Raiden followed her everywhere and was always super protective of her.
Despite his annoyance at being dead, Raiden is at least glad that he can still be by Amaryllis's side, even if that means he'll never get to touch her and tell her how he feels.
To this day, Raiden remains Amaryllis's closest and only friend and he would do anything for her. Even try to scare away a bunch of handsome boys who have an interest in her. He won't let his best friend be stolen away so easily.
