I'm sorry that this chapter is a load of crap, but 1,500 words were deleted, I wasted 3 hours of my life and I am in no mood to rewrite it. That's also why this took so long to post :'(
Seriosuly, wattpad should auto-save. My computer glitched out and all of my work was gone.
A slender she-cat slid down to the pool, her white fur glistening in the moonlight. A muscular gray-and-white tom followed close behind her, and a brown she-cat raced beside him, her starry paws touching the ground but disturbing no earth.
Suddenly, the white she-cat halted. She turned to glare at the lithe she-cat, who immediately hung her head. "Fallownose, calm yourself! There's nothing to be worried about."
"But Featherstar, the fate of all the clans can depend on the five cats we choose to guide them!" Fallownose protested, her eyes sparkling in annoyance.
Featherstar parted her jaws as if she was about to reply, when Stormpelt motioned for them to be silent. The cats had reached a shallow pond, and from around it 9 pairs of eyes turned to look at them.
"Greetings, Featherstar," a brown tom meowed, dipping his head.
"You too, Oakstar."
"It seems we are the last to arrive... is everyone here?"
Oakstar dipped his head, as did a black she-cat and a dark ginger tom.
"Great. We'll begin." Oakstar stepped up to the pond, and a white she-cat and a black tom trailed behind him. "I, Oakstar, have arrived with Dappleheart and Sootfeather to represent StreamClan. We have chosen a cat that we believe will be worthy of their responsibility." The brown tom touched his nose to the pool, and an image of a gray she-cat with striking blue eyes appeared, taking a bite out of a salmon.
"I'm so surprised," Windstar mowed sarcastically. "You're lucky she was spared by Darkclaw," the black she-cat scoffed. "Why did you let him know of your choice?"
"It's a long story...." Oakstar mewed, shuffling his paws in embarrasment.
"...For another day." The ginger tom's gruff voice interuppted. "We're wasting moonlight."
Featherstar cleared her throat. "Do we all agree?"
Murmurs of agreement spread through the council, and one by one they touched their noses to the pond.
"We're next," the black she-cat meowed, her amber gaze raking the group of cats, daring any of them to defy her. "I, Windstar, have arrived with Redtail and Spotfur to represent SwiftClan. See and approve of our choice." Windstar touched her nose to the surface of the pond, and the ripples subsided to reveal the image of a dark brown tom with bright green eyes grooming himself.
"What!" Redtail spluttered. "I thought we agreed on Whiskerfur!"
Windstar turned to face her mate. "Whiskerfur? That flirt? What are you thinking?" Amused purrs passed through the crowd, and Redtail stared down in embarrasement.
"She follows Runningsun around like a fish sticking to water," Spotfur meowed. The pool shuddered, and and they watched a pale ginger she-cat follow a sleek gray tom around, until a light gray she-cat, supposedly Runningsun's mate interfered.
"Fine! Would you stop mocking me?" Redtail tucking his tail around his paws, and shot Windstar a half angry glance. The pool rippled, and the image of the dark brown tom appeared yet again.
"You all agree, correct?" Windstar directed her question at Redtail, and the red tom nodded immediately, purring in laughter. The cats looked at each other and nodded, staring intently as the golden tom vanished from sight.
"I, Duststar, have arrived with Grasslight and Mistfur to represent Stalkclan. The cat we have chosen possesses great potential, and I know that he is worthy of the trust we will be granting him." At the moment the tip of his nose made contact with the shimmering pond, the surface lit up to show the image of a golden tom, chewing on a mouse in a clearing.
At once, the council of cats let out murmurs of approval.
"A fine specimen," Oakstar commented.
"He will do just fine, and he's quite experienced- compared to the others," Featherstar agreed.
"Is it final?" Duststar asked, his amber eyes glaring. "Do we all believe this cat will uphold the responsibilities that come with this job?"
Nodding, the cats stepped forward, touching their noses to the pool. The tom's image was broken into a million pieces, before fading to the depths of the pool.
"I believe we are last," Featherstar mewed. "Dawn has almost arrived, and LightningClan has chosen wo cats to present to you, so we have no time to waste."
"I still don't understand why we don't get to choose two cats," Windstar huffed. Fallownose rolled her eyes.
"Let's not get into this argument again, okay?" Stormpelt meowed with a voice full of authority. Windstar sighed, and turned her back away from the other cats.
Featherstar shot her an awry glance before continuing. "I, Featherstar, have arrived with-"
"This is getting old," Duststar complained. "Can you just get on with it?"
Featherstar touched her nose to the pool, and two she-cats appeared, one taller than the other. The taller she-cat had a gray and white pelt, and the shorter had brown, white and black fur, with a pair of sparkling eyes.
"Isn't that the kit named after you?" Oakstar questioned Stormpelt, who nodded.
Windstar, who had by then turned around, parted her jaws to deliver a scathing comment. "The smaller one- a risky choice. Her birth was decieved, and was an act against the warrior code! She's bad luck from the start!"
Featherstar's gaze hardened. "These are the two cats we chose. Do you agree?"
Half-hearted murmurs escaped the crowd, but they touched their noses to the pool, and the image wavered before disappearing.
"Are we done yet?"
"No. Have you forgotten the visits we have to make?"
"That. Can we get it over with?"
"We will visit the chosen ones tonight."
I may go back and edit +add more since this chapter is so short ;( Hope you enjoyed! I promise the next chapter will be more eventful- this chapter had to be squeezed out of my system.
