Detective Pamela Harmon. Detective Karen Peters. Detective Margot Greene. Detective Diana Pauley. Detective Lane Lynch. All valuable women with valuable puzzle pieces. Each one of them had nothing with one puzzle piece, but together, they could actually pull this off. That's not what was going through their minds. Pamela thought that she didn't need anyone. She could solve this all by herself. Karen didn't want to meet these people. Her dogs were her team, and she didn't want a new one. Margot thought she was too great for these people. Her ego was off the charts and she was ready to show off. Diana had no interest in them. She was fine on her own and other women annoyed her. She knew someone was going to leave that room injured. Lane was nervous. Would they like her? Probably not. They were all strong, fierce, and nothing like her. They were out there fighting murderers and taking down mobs. She hid behind her computer. They met at Lane's precinct. Lane's captain allowed them to use the briefing room. They all arrived except for Margot, who didn't come for thirty minutes.
"Hello. My name is Detective Pamela Harmon", Pamela said. She shook Lane's hand, Karen's hand, and Diana's hand.

"I like your clothes", Lane said, looking her up and down. She had never met a woman that dressed like her.
"I can read your expression and I don't care what you think", she said, looking at the door and waiting for the fifth Detective.
"I'm Detective Karen Peters", Karen said, shaking their hands.
"You're like a cat lady, but with dogs", Diana smirked, "You're a dog lady".
"Yes", Karen said, feeling a little offended.
"My name is Detective Diana Pauley. You will call me Detective Pauley and nothing else. You call me something other than Detective Pauley, and I will dislocate your shoulders", Diana said. They all stood silent. They didn't even look at her. A minute later, Margot entered with her high heels and bold personality.
"I'm here, I'm here", she said. They all looked annoyed. Lane stepped forward.
"Hi, I'm Detective Lane Lynch, this is Detective Pamela Harmon, this is Detective Karen Peters, and she is uh, Detective Pauley", she said. She would've said Diana's full name, but she didn't want to have her shoulder dislocated.

"Cute", she said, not even looking at her, "I, Margot Greene, need no introduction".
"You just introduced yourself", Karen said.
"Yeah", Pamela added, "You also need to be on time".
"Or maybe you're just dumb and run on British time", Diana said.
"Well", Lane said, stepping in, "I'm glad we've all gotten to know each other and I look forward to working with you all".
"I don't need to. I work alone", Pamela snarked.
"So do, I", Diana added.
"Well, you've got that in common", Lane said, smiling.
"Yes. Americans love independence", Margot muttered.
"That's enough out of you", Karen said.
"Oh look at that", Diana said, "The dog lady is barking".
"When my dogs are done with you, you won't have arms to dislocate our shoulders", Karen screamed. Lane had to get in between them. What could she do to get them to cooperate? She'd just have to work with it. A few minutes later, Lane had them all sitting in the break room. They were all sitting in silence, all with mad faces.
"Well", she said, fake smiling, "I am so glad we all got to know each other. So, very glad. But, maybe we could spend this valuable time working on the case. I have been reviewing your cases and I have got to say, this is very interesting".
"I think we can all work on our own", Pamela grumbled.
"Well, not really", Lane said, "We have to work on this together. We have to investigate how these letters are connected".
"Or, your letters are connected and my B just stands for the Bronx", Diana said.
"While that might be a possibility", Lane started, only to be interrupted by Margot.
"What possibility?", she burst out laughing, "Do you think you're that special".
"Says the lady who arrived thirty minutes late and claimed she needed no introduction", Karen muttered.
"Look who's talking lady with five dogs", Pamela laughed.

"These five dogs can solve crime faster than you", Karen snapped.
"I'd like to take that action", Pamela said reaching her hand out. Things were getting out of control and Lane needed to do something before they ripped each other to pieces.
"Everyone take a five", Lane screamed.
"I'll take the entire afternoon because I can not work with this incompetence. You're all insane", Pamela said, storming out of the room.
"No dear", Margot laughed, "Insane is a woman who pretends she is a man".
"Listen up, Marie Antoinette", Diana said, threatening Margot, "I won't hurt you because I am a law-abiding cop, but I'm warning you, sleep with one eye open". She stood up and left. Karen stood up silently, thanked Lane, and left.
"This is absolutely ridiculous", Margot said. She left the room and Lane was left alone. The captain walked into the room.
"What happened Lane", he asked, "Did you crack the case?"
"I wish", Lane sighed, "But they all hate each other and I don't know why".

"Who knows why", he sighed, "but that's part of being a cop. They'll freshen up, come back tomorrow and it'll all be better".
"Yeah," Lane said, but she wasn't so sure about that.
