"Once you get married, you have prepaid to the gazillion wanted and unwated pregnancies," said Stacy inbetween bursts of laughter.
"You naughty girl, look at you all grown up. I used to change your diapers. Come what may, you would change my child's diapers too. A literal circle of duty."
"Hey, let's go find out if you are really preggies."
They paid the check and made way to the nearest shopping mall. Nancy and Stacy were lost for choice, from clearblue to first response pregnancy test, they were swallowed in the myriad. Like greedy gluttons, they stack away 16 pregnancy tests even though, one could do the job well enough. They were going the old school style!
They did not mind the stare on the cashier's face neither were they bothered by the chants of drivers they overtook. At one time, a police almost caught them for overspeeding. You know what, she turned to the right and ended up using a route she did not even know, avoiding the eminent encounter. As long as it got them home, satisfaction was guaranteed.

For two hours, no pee spurt out. Her 'thirst haven week' had proven counterproductive this time. The short detail of the this supposed week was training the body to be more responsive to thirst by prolonging thirst. It sounds cocomanicac, but when she discovered that trick it was an eureka moment.
2 gallons of water gulped down, another 2 hours later. "Oh yaya! I have got to pee."
She tore the wrapping from the kit like an angry woman snatching another's wig in a fight.
2 seconds; peep...peep... it turned out positive.
She unwrapped another, performed the same routine again and boooom, it was positive!
"At this point, testing again would be a waste of resources. There is no coming out of this one." added Stacy. She hid the rest in her bag to use sometime in the future or sell it to friends.
"You've got to tell Joe!" Stacy said with a somewhat mischievous smile across her face.
Just then, Joe barged in, looking like an angry hyena.
"Speak of the devil. What's with him?" Stacy asked Nancy.
"It is probably nothing. One of those days, " she lied.
Stacy had to go to school the next morning, so she picked her crossbody bag that contained her keys, wallet and chapstick and went back home. One interesting thing about the Panama Estate is the architecture and the fact that they allowed families to live close to one another. For instance, Stacy's house was a mere block away from her grandma's while Nancy's was 4 blocks away.
"Now, how do I tell him", she debated in her head. It was not as if she was trapping him with pregnancy or anything like that, but at the moment it felt that way. She was among the lucky ones to fall pregnant in the first year of marriage. For it was the goal of many a women to celebrate one year of marriage with a newborn.

As he hanged his clothes in the closet across their room, Nancy was trying to articulate the words out of her mouth.
"Joe, We are pregnant," she finally said.
"Are you serious! For real! You just made me the happiest man on earth." Joe said emphatically.
He picked her up, twirled her in the air, paced up and down; was so ecstatic, he did not know what to do. This was not the reaction she had anticipated, it was better.
'"We are going to call him Joe Manson Jr like his dad."
"What if it is a girl?"
"Then Josephine. You made me the happiest man on earth."
Just like that the glomy mood sublimed, the wall of tension crumbled down and Joy diffused in the Mason household.
Though he was elated by the great news, Joe was having a nagging feeling of guilt. Having neglected his wife was the prime reason and making it up to her, his new mission.
His instant change of heart fueled his willingness to become a better person.
