JENSEN LOWE AWOKE to knocking at his window. He inwardly scowled and rolled over, disregarding it as an animal on the window ledge of the safehouse.
"Jensen!" Aurora called from outside.
Jensen groaned, and opened the curtains, revealing Aurora sat on the roof of the next-door building, her legs dangling precariously. He opened the window, and she jumped, snapping the air and she landed gracefully on Jensen's bed.
"Do you have a death wish?" He asked her, folding his arms.
She flashed Adrian's ring at him, grinning. "I do have magic."
"No you don't. You have the power to influence sorcery. It's eight in the morning, why are you here?"
"I'm supposed to be researching that art school."
"So instead you're here, waking me up. You're a charming young lady," he muttered.
She smiled again. "I did sorcery yesterday."
Jensen frowned. "How? That's Adrian's ring, it shouldn't work on you unless-"
"He transferred it to me?"
He squinted at her. "How do you know that?"
"I read some books from the Valden Academy and made a friend."
"We'd better make an appointment at the Haven."
Aurora jumped off the bed. "Good, because I'd rather have the sorcery in my body than on a ring in case it gets lost or I get into one of those magic binds and-"
"Go tell Jonathan to make an appointment," Jensen said, cutting her off.
"Somebody's not a morning person," Aurora muttered, and she walked out of his bedroom.
Jensen quickly got changed into one of his navy suits, and adjusted his hat in the mirror. He went downstairs and found Aurora chattering away with Zoe and Jonathan.
"Look who came in using the window," Jensen said warily, fixing himself a cup of tea.
"Window?" Jonathan asked, chuckling.
Aurora grinned. "Doors are for people with no creativity."
"Definitely Adrian's sister," Zoe muttered, drinking her coffee.
"She did sorcery," Jensen said, glancing at Jonathan.
"I've made an appointment at the Haven," Jonathan responded.
"It was pretty advanced sorcery you did, Aurora. It's impressive," Zoe said.
"It is?" Aurora frowned. It wasn't like she'd burned a building down.
"Considering you've had no training," Jensen said.
"Oh. I read a few books and had some help," Aurora shrugs. "What objects do you guys use for sorcery?"
"Well I don't have the same magic as Jensen and Zoe. I have the ability to create illusions. Make someone see whatever I want them to see," Jonathan explained.
"Oh, so you're a Spae," Aurora nodded. Jensen narrowed his eyes.
"I use a ring like Adrian did. I find it's quicker than pulling out a sceptre," Zoe replied.
"You don't have to use a ring or sceptre, like you said, it might help to keep it in your body. It'll be harder to control, though. Some people channel their sorcery to a specific body part, like fingertips or forehead." Jensen said.
"Forehead?" Aurora laughed.
"Surprisingly, it's not that rare. Although fire coming out from your forehead looks a bit odd..."
