"She's what?!" I said, hardly able to breathe at this point.
"Her pulse is gone. Her heart beat...gone. Everything." My dad responded between sobs.
I ran over to him to see her lifeless body in his arms. Boy, she didn't look peaceful.
"Go get Oaks." Dad demanded.
"Hey Oakley." I whispered.
" Get away. " he said, throwing a pillow in my direction.
"NO. Grandma is dead." I said firmly, but my body cold and soft.
Immediately after those words escaped my mouth Oakley rushed out of bed tears already falling down his face.
He made his way to the living room where dad was holding her body, Oakley stood there motionless with only scattered sounds coming out of his mouth.
"We are going to need to take a break, clear our heads after her funeral. They funeral will be Saturday." Dad said, at the moment I don't think he knew what he was saying but I know how it feels to lose the most powerful women in your life, my mom died when I was ten, Oakley only being three.
Since me and Oakley knew what it felt like to lose our mom, we decided to comfort him as much as possible.
"Its not fair." He sobbed, "I lost my dad when I was a lad. I lost my wife when you guys were tiny weeds...and now my mom is gone. I only have you guys. You only have me."
At that point I found myself sitting on the floor with my dad and brother, all of us sobbing our selves to sleep.
