Hello everyone! I'm back here again with another chapter. And this time I wanted to make a little defense/rant on a certain Pokemon protagonist we all know and love but others hate as well. And that is none other than Ash Ketchum himself!
Now Growing up in the '90s I was first introduced to Pokemon when it aired on Kids WB and it became one of my favorite shows if not one of my favorite animes of all time. However, what made me fall in love with the Pokemon franchise was a certain protagonist who would become one of my favorite characters of all time is Ash Ketchum.
Now keep in mind I watched the anime first before I played the games. So I grew up with Ash more than Red which Ash is based on. While Red is cool and all however I feel that he is so overrated. Now I'm not saying that Ash is better than Red in any way and before you genwunners kill me. I just want to let you know that I love Red however I feel almost everybody over glorifies him way too much.
Ash Ketchum could be considered a knockoff of Red however Ash isn't supposed to be Red even though he was based on Red. But enough about Red this is about Ash! Now Ash has gotten a lot of hate for some of the dumbest reasons like "Oh he can't win a league", "Oh he releases his best Pokemon", "He's a terrible trainer" or "He's not Red therefore he sucks!". These are the same excuses I kept hearing every day and I'm sick and tired of it.
First of all, Ash is not a terrible trainer! He takes good care of his Pokemon even though at first he came to odds with some of them like for example Pikachu and Charizard. But later on, both grow to respect him since he is someone who values friendships, he is someone who is willing to lend a hand, he goes out of his way to protect those he loves whether it be his friends and family, also he is the type of person who never gives up to the very end!
Now I can understand why most people don't like Ash because he never wins a league or he never catches legendaries. But do you know how boring that would be if Ash had a legendary (even though he has Melmetal which is mythical.). Plus it would make him too OP and it would take away what made him special in the first place. Ash has the ability to see the good in people and bring hope to those who doubt themselves. Even when some of his rivals like Gary, Trip, and Paul belittled him, he never gave up and eventually managed to beat them and prove them wrong.
And in the end, he finally won a league even though everybody says he should have won in the Kalos League. However...

Again I'm not trying to start a war, if you like Red better than Ash then that's fine. But I just want to make it clear that Ash is by no means a bad trainer or bad character like most people make him out to be. But hey to each of his own I guess...
