Songs for the chapter: Unbelievable~Why Don't We, Seeing Stars~ Børns

Staring out at the trees always brings me such peace. Hiking in general does. I smile as I walk up the familiar steps. Stopping in my path, I hear a muffled cry coming from off the trail. I step towards the sound, stumbling upon a small girl crawled into a ball. She's wearing an outfit that was most definitely NOT designed to hike in.

A plaid pink skirt with a black belt, knee high white socks that had two pink stripes, black Doc Martens, and a pullover white sweatshirt that says "gimme love." on it. Her hair looks like it was styled at some point but had been disheveled. Most people would probably leave the crazy person by herself and continue on their hike and with any other person, I would too. There was just something about this girl I was drawn to.

"Are you ok?" I whispered approaching her. She lifts her head up and I notice her piercing blue eyes. They seem to see your soul, in a good way of course. She looks to be about my age and I wanna say Korean? A small smile grows on her face as she sees me.

"No," she sniffles out, "I-I was going on the trail and I guess I got off of it and now, well, here i am"

"Don't worry, I know these woods better than I know myself." I grab her hand, pulling her up, "I'm Cadealina by the way."

"Ediline"

-

"Hey what's your insta?"

"Here let me." she takes my phone and tags herself in the insta story I've been working on

"Thanks" I say walking to my car and hopping in. I put the key in the ignition and start it up. Circling past the front I notice Ediline yelling into her phone speaker. I roll down my window. "Are you good?"

"Ummm" she fidgets with her fingers, "This is gonna sound weird but could you like... drive me home?"

"Sure." I laugh, "Hop in"

Time skip

We pull to her house and she opens the door.

"Thanks for the ride, text me later?"

"Will do."

I park in the driveway of our house and check the notification that just popped up. I groan, realizing it's Jason.

I roll my eyes and hop out of the jeep locking it as I walk into the garage. I continue on into our entrance hall, chandelier and all. Strutting into the kitchen, I drop my keys on the counter and sigh, staring out the floor to ceiling windows. Thanks for the house mom! Totally makes up for the fact that you leave us in middle-of-nowhere, Nebraska while you run your company in New York.

I go make sure Bailey is up before I start to make us some breakfast, fried eggs and avocado toast. Dammit Lee. We're out of almond milk. I stare at the milk, contemplating. Fuck it, I want iced coffee. I grab the milk knowing I will regret this decision later and make my iced latte. Bailey slumps down into a bar stool at the island and groans.

"You do realize you're lactose intolerant right Cadealina?"

"Well someone forgot to get it when they went to the store the other day"

"You know the rules Cades, if it's not on the list you're not getting it"

"But I text-"

"Nope, nope, no way" she says pointing her toast at me and furiously shaking her. "Anyways, what you got going on today?"

"Nothing, you?"

"Same."

"80's Rom-Coms?"

"With you? Always."
