Keefe POV:
I'm.
So.
Bored.
My parents dragged me to this stupid school talent show. Why? I don't even know! I'm not in it, and no one we know is in it so either they're crazy, or they wanna torture me. Most likely both. I mean these kids don't even——woooaaahhh. Who. Is. That. I snatch the program out of my moms hands and try to figure out what act they're on.
My mom glares at me, and whispers, "And you wonder why you don't have any friends."
I ignore the jab, desperately scanning the program. Finally finding the next act, I look at the name. Sophie Foster. I mindlessly hand the program back to my mom, and look back up at the girl on the stage. She looks around my age, with long curled blonde hair, and a gorgeous dark red dress. She keeps reaching up and pulling out her eyelashes. Strangely painful nervous habit. Then, she starts to sing. The whole audience is captivated. Including me. It's like a literal angel dropped down from heaven and decided to come sing at the local school talent show. The song ends too quickly, and she trips on the mike wire as she tries to bow. Her cheeks get all red and I can't help but think her blush is really cute.
After she walks off stage, she's all I can think about for the rest of the show.
"Keefe stop zoning out. Be a gentleman and pay attention. I wish you weren't our son." My father leans over and whispers to me.
I simply say, "Don't even worry about it. The feeling is mutual."
I barely hear his whisper-shouted "EXCUSE ME" as I stand up and walk out the auditorium door. I see the blonde girl from the show down the hallway. Sophia Froster? Wait no Sophie Frosted? Sophie Foster? Yep that's it. I quickly run my hands through my hair, then take off down the hallway. Realizing it's kinda creepy to just run up to a complete stranger, I slow down and casually walk up to her and put an arm around her shoulders.
"Hey, Sophie Foster right?" I say. Her eyes get all big and I worry I did something wrong when she slaps me right across the face and shouts, "How do you know my name?!"
Dang she can slap hard. Still trying to recover from the pain I manage to get out, "Your name was in the program...."
Her eyes get all big again and she rushes back over and apologizes. "I'm so so so sorry, do you need an ice pack or anything?"
"Nah I'll be fine. It's my pride that's been wounded." I say this while clutching my chest in mock hurt. She giggles, and all I can think is WOOHOO POINT TO THE UNSTOPPABLE KEEFE SENCEN!
"Well, is there anything I can do for you oh great one?" She teases while attempting to curtsy. She trips again, but this time I'm here to catch her. She blushes, and I just think WOOHOO ANOTHER POINT FOR THE KEEFESTER!
"How bout give me your number?" I say and whip out the signature smirk and wink. Never gets old.
She blushes and tugs out an eyelash. "Alright."
I pass her my phone, and she types in her number. Once she gives it back, I say, "It was a pleasure meeting you Mysterious Miss F." While bowing. She giggles and blushes at the nickname, then says, "and what might your name be?"
"Keefe Sencen."
"Well it was nice meeting you too Keefe. See you around then?"
"Yeah. See ya around." She blushes, and I watch her walk away. I guess talent shows aren't so bad after all. As I walk back to my parents, I just can't seem to shake the big dopey grin on my face.
"Son stop smiling like that!! It's creepy!"
"Well dad you wouldn't know too much about being happy would ya?"
"Who do you think you are talking to your father like that?" My mother snaps.
"I'm Keefe Sencen. Master Prankster with the most irresistible hair on the planet. By the way, I can't wait to get rid of that last name." Both my parents glare at me, but I just ignore them. I let my thoughts drift back to Sophie. Hmmm, Keefe Foster. Has a nice ring to it.
