paid feelings

"okay, y/n, we've got five minutes until you have to leave. how much longer on your face," your publicist asks you. you roll your eyes. you've put your hair in a cute but very messy bun, your makeup was simple but complimented every facial feature you had, and you threw on a pair of jeans with a cropped black shirt and some high topped converse for the simple fact of simplicity. "i'm done," you tell her, hopping out of the chair in your hotel room. "how much longer will this stupid charade have to go on," you ask her.

for about five months now, you've been in a relationship with dominic harrison, better known by his stage name, yungblud. or...at least that's what the public has to believe; your fame was equivalent to his ex girlfriend, ashley, or halsey. she had moved on to an actor from a big time show and dom was going nowhere but up in his own quirky way. you were over being with someone who was being payed money to have feelings for you and vice versa.

   "you're leaving  like that?"

"we're literally just going to the airport. why do i have to even go if we aren't really together?"

before she can respond, her phone rings and she steps out. then you suddenly get a notification on your phone.

before he can respond, your publicist and manager walk through the door, "ready to go?" you get up, dragging luggage with you. outside of the door, you and dom lock eyes with eyes other. he grabs your hand and kisses your cheek, "ready love?" "i'd be more ready if you did this when there are actually cameras around," you respond, being rather snappy about it. "sorry."

coming out of the hotel, you get a glance of your surroundings through the lenses of your sunglasses. you've got a photographer or two or three on the patio of a cafe across the street, black van parked 15-30 yards away, snapping pictures out of the window, reporters left and right invading the privacy that you and dom conjured up together. you managed to keep a straight bitch face until you looked at dom and saw that he was just cheesin' his way through the sea of people; you couldn't help but smile too. he takes your bags for you and places them in the trunk so you can get comfortable in the vehicle.

after about two minutes, you check the time to see that if he doesn't get in, he'll be late. you look up to see him talking with great hand gestures; you roll down the window, wrap your arm around him from behind, and kisses him on his cheek from the side, "dom, we'll be late for the flight," you tell him. he lights up like a christmas tree before quickly hopping into the vehicle with you.

a few minutes down the road, you think about what you told him at the hotel. "dom?" his head turned towards you, "hm?" you let out a sigh, "i'm sorry about earlier. i wasn't trying to be snappy, i've just been thinking about a lot of things." he shifts his body in your direction to get a bit more comfortable, "we'll, we have thirty minutes until we get to the airport, what you been thinking on?"

you talked about your frustrations with the whole charade. you told him about how you weren't even asked before hand, they just signed you on it. not once did they ask you how you were feeling or how you felt about it. "...it would just be nice to be in a relationship where someone wasn't paid to have feelings for me, you know?"

he raised an eyebrow, "i wouldn't say feelings have to be payed," you looked to him as your eyebrows furrowed together, "i mean i truly do like you as a person, y/n. maybe sometime i could take you on a real date, you know, without supervisors or publicists calling photographers to come snap pictures?"

was he serious right now? the idea of that did sound very nice to you, but.. "but dom, do i even know the first real thing about you?" he was quick to reply, "yes of course! everything I've ever told you in interviews or in front of cameras and even when we're having to converse alone, that's all true! y/n , if i would've known about the mess this was going to cause, i would've never picked you for this whole stunt, i would've come up and asked you myself." wait what? "wait, what," you repeated your thought process.

dominic explained to you every thing he loved about you before the two of you even met, "your voice is timeless, the lyrics you write are always either breaking my heart or inspiring me, the outfits you choose to express your feelings are always vibrant no matter what, and the way you carry yourself as a woman is just absolutely astounding! you influence so many people to standing up for themselves even when they feel like they shouldn't, and it's almost as if you've created this peaceful moment where the silence is so unbearable, others are afraid to fuck with you, and that is so badass."
