Niran was standing next to his brother, Armand, who was three years older than him. They were in Anaba's study with the rest of the Elders, trying to figure out what to do about the visions Kumaglak, Darkstalker, Kaya, and Whiteout had. Especially the ones concerning Galbatorix scrying Kaya in her sleep, and Kumaglak somehow eavesdropping on a conservative between Galbatorix, Damek, and Rumplestiltskin, and then Kumaglak's vision about Damek stealing a baby from Anaba; none of them knew whose baby it was. All they knew was that one of them were going to have a baby and then Damek would succeed in stealing the baby and would later be captured and imprisoned like the rest of his fellow Forsworn.
This vision reminded him of the murder attempt on Anaba's only son by the four former Erdas Dragon Riders whose heads were filled with lies by Galbatorix and persuaded them to join his Forsworn.
The traitors then attacked Sanctuary three years ago trying to make Anaba and the rest of them sufffer by killing her son because he was part of a prophecy that would bring about Galbatorix's downfall.
During the fight Anaba has protected her son with such ferocity, ferocity he hadn't seen since the war with Galbatorix and the Forsworn.
In the end three of the four traitors had been subdued and locked up in prisons guarded by wild dragons, who didn't want to see the mass murder of their kind again like what happened when the Forsworn went into Erdas and terrorized the fourteen dragon tribes so much that they went into hiding; and cutting off the Riders supply of eggs because the dragons refused to give the Riders anymore eggs, out of fear that the eggs might fall into Galbatorix's hands and he would use them against the dragons.
Damek was the only Forsworn to escape and flee back to his master and remained in hiding till he attacked Nimue and Hurricane.
"I say we tell them about their Dragon Rider ancestors." He heard Eir say. "They have a right to know. If we keep this hidden from them and they find out about their ancestors and learn that we knew and didn't tell them they might never trust us again. And I'm for keeping them from hating us, and I know I wasn't around for the Fall of the Alagäesia Riders, but I don't want to deal with more Riders turning against us and trying to kill us." Eir finished, looking at all of them with her kind blue-green eyes.
"I agree, we should tell them, but just not yet. They are still young and they don't need this extra weight and feeling of responsibility added to their heavy burdens already." Armand said.
"I think we should tell them." He blurted out, receiving looks from the rest of the Elders. "After all I was friends with Kumaglak and Kaya's great uncle, Atiqalaaq, and he would want them to know about their ancestry."
"That's two yeas and one nay, and I agree with Armand, we shouldn't tell them now. I say we tell them when they are at least ten or older." Kala said, looking at them all fiercely showing there was nothing they could do to change her mind.
That was a Euran thing, once a Euran set their mind on something there was almost nothing a person could do to get them to change their mind. All Eurans were stubborn people who never listened to any sense when they became determined to do something.
"Anaba you remain undecided, what is your decision in this matter?" Armand asked Anaba.
Anaba sat at her desk with the tips of her fingers pressed together, thinking.
Then after a moment of silence Anaba said, "We should tell them, but not right now. Later in the year perhaps after they get use to learning all the secrets about themselves. I don't want to overwhelm them with all these secrets, and I agree with Niran, Atiqalaaq would have wanted them to know that they are his great nephew and niece, and that being a descendant of a Dragon Rider is a great honor."
"And what of Nimue and Hurricane? Do you think Kori and Tidal Wave would want them to know who they are as well?" Kala asked Anaba.
"I believe Tidal Wave might reveal that secret to Nimue and Hurricane when the time is right."
"I'm sorry for my nosiness, but isn't Nimue Kori's great granddaughter and Hurricane is Tidal Wave's son?" Eir asked, since she wasn't around the time of The Fall of The Alagäesia Dragon Riders and never got a chance to meet Kori and Tidal Wave in person.
"Aye and it is a secret, along with Kumaglak and Kaya's, that must not get out into the open. For if it does and Galbatorix gets word of it he will be even more desperate to obtain a descendant of a Dragon Rider since descendants of Dragon Riders tend to be a little more powerful than the average Rider." Kala said.
Out of all of them Anaba was the only descendant of a Dragon Rider, Akecheta, one of the fifteen original Riders and leader and basically founder of the Erdas Dragon Riders.
"You are right. We cannot let Galbatorix catch wind of this or he might just be desperate enough to send Damek, Durza, and Rumplestilskin to attack us. If Damek remembers where Sanctuary is." Armand said.
"Don't worry, Damek and the others don't even remember how to Sanctuary or even where it might be possibly located. I wiped it from their minds personally." Anaba said with a hint of anger in her voice.
Niran guessed it was from the talk of the four traitors attacking Sanctuary and her having to hide her son somewhere safe; he didn't know where.
"What if Galbatorix try's to find and free the other three." Eir asked.
"I casted the protection spells and hid the location myself with blood magic, and the blood magic I cast on the prisons can only be broken by a magic user in my blood line."
Blood magic was the casting of spells involving the caster's blood so that the spell can only be broken by someone in the caster's blood line. It was the perfect spell to use when one wanted to hide it seal something.
"But doesn't Galbatorix know about Kol?" He asked, concerned for the little boy, whose father fell madly in love with Anaba and insisted on marrying her.
Anaba did spend a couple months with him, and then left and said she would return, but a few months later she found out she was pregnant, and realized the prophecy one of their last prophets spoke, who was killed at the hands of Galbatorix and Morzan, a prophecy concerning one of Anaba's children helping to bring about Galbatorix's downfall.
"Galbatorix knows Kol is perhaps still alive, but he has no idea where he is. I sent Kol to live with his father after the attack. I cast many protective enchantments over him so that he may not be harmed by those who are not of blood." Anaba said to all of them.
Then after that they all left to go tend to things that needed tending to.
While Niran was working on creating new rock ledges, with his earth manipulation ability because of his bond to Dizhen. All he could think about was the poor, little boy, Kol, and his destiny he probably never wanted.P.S. I used blood magic from Once Upon a Time. Hope your all enjoying. I'll try and get the prophecy written.
