Laura was sitting on her bed while reading a book. She was home alone at the time. After about 10 minutes she heard a knock on the door.
"He left 15 minutes ago, what happened"? Her father left to go to work and he would returned 5 hours later. She went to open the door to see Toby standing outside holding a rose.
Toby- Hi... I brought you this.
Laura- Oh that's... really nice of you, thanks. Why did you get me a rose?
Toby- Umm.. I don't know... You are... uh..  really pretty.
Laura- That's so kind of you!
There was an awkward long pause until Toby asked her if she would come to the shop tonight, so she could try Mr. Lovett's new meat pie recipe, for the second time today.
Laura- Oh you bet I am..., she smiled a bit, I also have something to do there.
Toby- I can help you if you'd like!
Laura- It has to do with Mr. Todd...
Toby shivered and gulped before he would continue talking. There was this little something about Mr. Todd that Toby would rather keep him away and continue working at the bakery with Mr. Lovett.
Toby- Oh.. um.. I also have something to do at the shop. I will serve gin and pies so... I can't help.
Laura- I don't actually mind. I would like to speak to him in private anyway...
Toby walked one step back to show her that he had to leave.
Laura- Before you go... Do you know anything about Mr. Todd's family?
Toby- No I don't really know... but he came to London a couple of days ago, alone. He must have broken up or something. It's none of my business to know.
Laura- Well I'm going to visit him tonight.. alone.
Another awkward silence. Dang, how much I hate this, they both thought to themselves.
Toby- Look, I would normally tell noone about this but... If I were you I wouldn't dare to have a fight..  any kind of fight, with Mr. Todd.
Laura- Yeah yeah he's the Satan himself. Are you finished? I have to go get dressed.
Toby- Oh... yeah. I'll see you tonight.. bye!
Laura said nothing but nodded and closed the door. "What was that"?
