Thanks for reading! I just had a few things to say about this so I've written them here:

1) Firstly, I originally just wrote this as a really long oneshot, but since I made a cover for this story (and it's around 20,000 words), I just sort of broke it up in as even of sections as I could. So if any of the transitions sound stilted, sorry about that! I'll be posting it as a single chapter on AO3 since that's how it was originally style.

2) The case study mentioned in this story is real (and you can find it in some of the research links below). 'Genie' is a girl who was severely abused and neglected for the first thirteen years of her life and appeared to psychologists as a 'feral child' not unlike Vincent of Aveyron, who ran away into the woods and lived in the wild. They're both very interesting cases, so I'd encourage you to read further on them if you're interested! Hyungwon's case in this story is similar in the themes of language delay / isolation from learning language patterns, but a notable difference is that Hyungwon does not fall into the 'feral child' category as the others do since he was still raised in a civilized (although isolated) environment.
