sleepover

chapter 6

"it's okay if you don't have anything, we can just share a bed", nagisa smiled while rei was looking for a sleeping bag or extra mattress that he didn't have.
"aren't we too old for that?", rei asked honestly.
"it doesn't matter the age! all that matters is that we're friends. i'm sure mako-chan and haru-chan still share a bed when they have sleepovers", nagisa commented.
"well it's the only option we have so i guess", rei's face flushed a light pink as he was too embarrassed to share the bed, but there was no choice and he wasn't about to let either one of them sleep on the floor.
'does he really not want to share a bed with me that much?', nagisa pouted, the thought made him just a little bit sad.
the two wore matching pajamas except nagisa's were yellow with penguins on them and rei's were purple with butterflies on them. they laid in silence, nagisa felt like asking rei who he liked but he didn't want to annoy him. after about 20min of not being able to sleep, nagisa got bored and started scheming.
"rei-chan don't go in there the squid is gonna eat you!", nagisa said pretending to be sleep talking.
"i wonder what he's dreaming about", rei giggled to himself.
he always enjoyed listening to what nagisa had to say while he was sleeping. right about then nagisa rolled over onto rei, his face on the other's chest.
"nagisa you have no clue what you're doing to be right now", rei sighed and started to play with nagisa's hair.
'doing to him? does he hate me? no that can't be true!', this thought worried him so he figured he'd have to pry a little more. he wished rei wasn't so confusing even if he just thought that nagisa was asleep.
"rei-chan no! please don't hate me rei-chan!", nagisa cried out still pretending to be asleep.
"if only you knew that was far from the truth. i love you nagisa. there, technically i just told you who my crush is so i don't have to tell you tomorrow and you're asleep that's great! you've done it again rei!", he said unaware that nagisa was hearing everything he was saying. it's not like nagisa was going to hear though, right?
nagisa tried to ease his heart that felt like it was about to jump right out of his chest. he was so happy his crush felt the same. he smiled and quickly fell asleep, still snuggling into rei's chest. soon after the other had gone quiet rei also fell asleep hand still sitting atop nagisa's head.
