Jacqueline stumbled out of the car, quietly following Dean to Sam's home. She followed the man through the window, waiting for their little tussle to be over.
"Jess, hey. Dean, Jacqueline, this is my girlfriend, Jessica." Sam introduced as Jackie backed up next to Dean. "Wait. Your siblings, Dean and Jacqueline?" Jess asked. "I love the Smurfs. You know, I gotta tell you, you are completely out of my brother's league." Dean flirted. "Let me put something on." Jessica tried. "No, no. No, I wouldn't dream of it, seriously." Dean drooled over her, causing Jackie to elbow him in the side, making him groan a bit. "Anyway, I gotta borrow your boyfriend here, talk about some private family business, but nice meeting you." Jackie told Jess. "No. No, whatever you want to say, you can say it in front of her." Sam ordered his siblings, moving to Jessica's side.
"Okay, um, dad hasn't been home in a few days." Dean said. "So he's working overtime on a 'Miller Time' shift. He'll stumble back in soon or later." Sam spat. "Dad's on a hunting trip, and he hasn't been home in a few days." Jackie told him. Sam became overly serious. "Jess, excuse us." Sam announced.
Sam put on real clothes before the trio walked outside. "I mean come on, you can't break in, middle of the night, and expect me to hit the road with you." Sam said. "You're not hearing me Sammy. Dad's missing. I need you to help me find him." Dean responded. "You remember the poltergeist in Amherst? Or the Devil's Gates in Clifton? He was missing then, too. He's always missing, and he's always fine." Sam spat. Dean stopped and turned around to face Sam. "Not for this long. Now, are you gonna come with me or not?" Dean asked. "I'm not." "Why not?!" Jackie questioned. "I swore I was done hunting. For good." Sam explained. "Come on. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't that bad." Jackie scoffed and continued down the stairs, her brothers following.
"Yeah? When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45." Sam reminded them. They stopped at the door to the outside. "Well, what was he supposed to do?" Dean asked. "I was nine years old! He was supposed to say, don't be afraid of the dark." "Don't be afraid of the dark? Are you kidding me? Of course you should be afraid of the dark. You know what's out there." Jackie told him. "Yeah, I know, but still. The way we grew up, after mom was killed, and Dad's obsession to find the thing that killed her. But we still haven't found the damn thing. So we kill everything we can find." "We save a lot of people doing it." Jackie reminded him. "You think mom would've wanted this for us?" Sam asked. Jackie slammed the door open in frustration, walking up the short flight of stairs, heading to the Impala.
"The weapon training, and melting the silver into bullets? Man, we were raised like warriors." Sam reminded. "So what were you gonna do? You're just gonna live some normal, apple pie life?" Jackie asked in annoyance. "No. Not normal. Safe." Sam admitted. "And that's why you ran away." Jackie scoffed, looking away from her brother. "I was just going to college. It was dad who said if I was gonna go I should stay gone. And that's what I'm doing." Sam explained. "Yeah, well, Dads in real trouble right now, if he's not dead already. I can feel it." Jackie said. Sam fell silent. "We can't do this alone." Jackie told him. "Yes you can." Sam said. "Yeah, well, we don't want to." Jackie admitted. Sam sighed, looking up for a moment.
"What was he hunting?" Sam asked, causing Jackie to grin. Dean opened the trunk to the Impala and the secret weapon compartment, searching through the clutter for something. "So when dad left, why didn't you go with him?" Sam asked. "I was working my own gig. This, uh, voodoo thing, down in New Orleans." Dean told his little brother. "He let you go on a hunting trip by yourself? And what was Jackie doing?" Sam questioned in disbelief. "I'm 26, dude." Dean reasoned. "I was at boarding school in Virginia, ROTC. Because you ran off he took it out on me because I'm the youngest and you're the youngest boy. The second you were gone, he tossed me into the school. Not the best point in my life." Jackie said, annoyance laced through her voice. Dean found the file he was looking for and pulled out some papers. "Alright, here we go. Dad was checking out this two-lane blacktop just outside Jericho California. About a month ago this guy," Dean passed Sam a paper before continuing, "They found his car, but he vanished. Completely MIA." The paper was a printout of an article from the Jericho Herald, headlined "Centennial Highway Disappearance" , dated Sept. 19th 2005; it has a man's picture, that was captioned "Andrew Carey MISSING".
