Chapter 34

The next day, I woke up and got changed into my hero costume before going to Aries's office. Just like the day before, she told me what we were going to do. It was the same schedule as the day before, but with a little more training and a later patrol.

The training Aries had me do was the same as the day before. At first, I had kinda thought I was improving and it had gotten a little easier. But I think it was just because I got a good night's sleep and was refreshed because it got way harder really fast.

We trained until lunch like the day before and once we finished eating, I got an hour break before going back to doing some more training. It was really tiring and by the time we finished, I did not want to go on patrol. Aries gave me another hour break before we left the agency.

It was pretty dark out already and I still felt a little tired from training, but there was nothing I could do about that. We walked along the sidewalk, taking the same route as we did yesterday.

"Help!" A woman's panicked screech reached my ears. Aries immediately took off in the direction of the scream and I ran after her.

We reached the terrified woman and a few other people around her being attacked by- "A Nomu!?" I yelled in shock, horror in my voice as I recalled what happened at the USJ. "What the hell is it doing here!?" The creature was a grayish-green color and looked more human than the Nomu from the one at the USJ. But with its crazed eyes and visible brain, it was clear the two were very similar. Which meant that we were in huge trouble. Even All Might had trouble defeating the other Nomu. How were we going to be able to get rid of this one?

Aries jumped into action, seeing her move around the Nomu and start trapping it is a giant cloud of cotton snapped me out of my thoughts. I took a step closer and froze the cotton cloud, along with the Nomu caught inside. "You know what that is?" Aries asked, standing next to me.

"One attacked the USJ during one of our classes. All Might had trouble fighting that thing. If there's more of them- at there level of strength- there's no way-" I took in a sharp breath, fear boiling inside me.

"If All Might had trouble taking that one down and we just dealt with this one, there's no way the two are on the same level." Aries said, narrowing her eyes at the frozen cloud of cotton. "Unless it's able to-"

Aries was cut off by more screams. I looked in the direction of the screams and saw smoke rising above buildings and into the sky not that far off. "What could that be?" Aries questioned, taking a step toward the direction of the light only to be stopped by the sound of cracking ice. I spun around to look at the frozen cotton ball, a large crack had appeared down the middle and the fear from before instantly came back.  Before I had a chance to try to seal the crack, the Nomu had shattered the ice and escaped the trap.

"How?" I muttered, shock mixing with my fear.

"Chione! Focus!" Aries yelled once again trapping the Nomu in cotton, only for it to crawl its way out and charge at Aries.

"R-Right!" I snapped out of my fearful daze and froze the Nomu in place. Once it was trapped in place, I started covering it in ice, encasing it in thick layers of ice. I stared at it for a minute wondering if I had trapped it for good. But there was on the way it could be that easy. The Nomu was able to shatter the ice from inside it again. There was no way to defeat this thing.

Its attention was now on me and I quickly created a dragon-like creature and sent it flying at the Nomu. The Nomu smashed into the building, only for it to spring back like nothing happened.

"Can you try freezing it then shattering the ice and that thing with it?" Aries suggested as she used her quirk to hold back the Nomu while we came up with a plan.

"I can try." I said. The Nomu was getting closer. "But that doesn't work on living things. At least, I don't think it does..."

"Just try!" Aries ordered, then the cotton disappeared and the Nomu came running at us. I froze it in place like before and once again covered it in layers of ice. Then I took a few deep breaths and really focused on the idea that the Nomu would shatter with the ice. The ice shattered. The Nomu still standing, no damage had been done.

I breathed out a sigh of relief. It was bad that it didn't work because the Nomu was still a threat, but I was kind of hoping it wouldn't. If it had worked, it would mean that I had the power to kill people like that. And knowing that I could do that would terrify me more than the Nomu was right now.

"Damn." Aries cursed as she blocked the Nomu in more cotton-like before. I froze it in place again so me and Aries could come up with a plan.

"What are we going to do?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the Nomu.

Aries pondered the question for a moment before saying, "We need to knock it out, then I can call the police to come and get it."

"And how are we supposed to-" the Nomu shattered the ice again, but I quickly encased it in more ice, "to do that?"

"I can hold it back and you can keep on attacking it with whatever ice creatures you come up with." Aries suggested, and after a second added, "Aim for its head."

"Ok." I let the ice that had been trapping the Nomu shatter and immediately created a few ice birds that flew at the Nomu's head and started pecking at it. The Nomu instantly became distracted by the birds and I used that time to create an ice ram that rammed into the Nomu and picked it up with its horns and threw it back on the ground. I glanced over at Aries to see her using her quirk to make a cotton wall around us to make sure no one else got hurt.

Aries looked at me. "If I see it getting to close to you, I'll block it."

"Thanks." I rushed out. The Nomu was able to destroy the ice animals and was now refocusing on me. But before it could charge at me, I created a few more birds to distract it while I focused most of my energy into creating a large, Chinese dragon. The birds shattered when I had created the dragon, proof that I was both getting tired and that the dragon was taking up a lot of energy. The Nomu looked at me, only for the dragon to quickly fly at its face. The Nomu was knocked back into the building behind it, which already had cracks in it from the first time the Nomu was knocked into it. But this time, it broke the wall and collided with a support beam inside. When the dust cleared, the dragon had been shattered and the Nomu was unconscious.

"Is it unconscious?" Aries asked, taking a cautious step toward the limp Nomu.

"I think so." I answered with a few deep breaths to calm my speeding heart. The fight had made me so full of adrenaline and I didn't even notice it.

Aries cautiously approached the Nomu and looked it over. "It's unconscious." She confirmed.

I sighed in relief. "Good." That fight was over, and if we were lucky, we wouldn't have to fight another Nomu.

"I'll tie it up for now so if it wakes up it won't be able to hurt anyone." Aries said, though she sounded a little unsure. She must've known that, if it did wake up, whatever ropes she could make would easily be broken through. But she was able to create a cotton rope and quickly tied it up anyways. After stepping back, she turned to me, "Alright, we need to get to that fire."

I opened my mouth to respond, but when my phone vibrated from inside my pocket, I stopped myself from saying anything to check it. I had it so the only notifications I got were texts, so I was worried it was from Ryu or Shiro.

"Really?" Aries growled as I looked at what the notification was for.

"A location? From Midoriya?" I muttered, thinking of what it could mean. 'It's nearby... Could he be in trouble? Maybe I should go check it out. It's not too far.' I looked back up at Aries. "A friend of mine sent me his location, I think he could be in trouble. It's not far from here so I'm going to go see what's going on. I'll meet up with you where the fire is right now when I'm done."

Aries considered this and after a minute, nodded. "Just be careful."

"I will."
