I'm not going to publish an author's note to say this but, I am no longer happy with this story. I wrote it almost two years ago and I like to think that my writing has grown for the better since then. You can still read as you please but don't expect updates for awhile. I'm really sorry, this is my most popular fic and I know people liked it but I just can't look at it without thinking about how much better it could be. I tried to suck it up and just write the new chapters but the writing style and word count was so drastically different that it just didn't make any sense. GOOD NEWS, I am planning to rewrite this. This fic will be left alone as it is but once I get around to writing the new one I will post the link here :)

Again, so sorry. I love this fic with all my heart and I had so much fun writing it but this is just how it's gonna be. Hope you enjoy anyways.

I'll be working on it soon :)

Tomura had never known love his entire life, the concept was completely foreign to him.

When he was just 5, he found a lone puppy by the side of the road near his house. The dog's paw was twisted in a sick angle and quickly took a liking to the small child. Tomura felt his heart break at the sight and carefully picked the pup up to show his father hoping that maybe he could nurse it back to health. Bringing the dog into the house was his first big mistake. His father, drunk and angry, screamed like he'd never heard before. Grabbing the dog by the neck, he threw it as hard as he could out the door causing the pup to screech in pain and run in fear. Before Tomura could even think about what had just happened, his father slapped him hard across the face sending him flying to the ground.

Tomura didn't learn right away though.

When he was only 7, he invited a friend from around the block over. They met each other from the playground near Tomura's house, quickly becoming good friends. They spent the whole day playing in the sand building sand structures and tearing them down with a giggle. The sun began to set and his friend started to look worried saying that he would have to leave soon. Of course, not wanting to separate, Tomura asked if he could stay over knowing that his dad wouldn't mind. His friend said that he wasn't allowed to have anyone over but they could go to his house. There was hesitation and fear about how his father would react but he decided that he couldn't do anything too bad so they made their way to Tomura's house. As soon as they got there, his father scared his friend back home. Furious, he beat Tomura to a bloody pulp that day.

This still wasn't enough to teach Tomura a lesson.

When Tomura was 10 years old, he found yet another stray dog but was hesitant this time to take him home, remembering all too well what happened last time. But looking at the dog made his heart twinge with emotion and he couldn't help himself. He would find a way to hide the dog from his father somehow, he could keep it outside or in his closet. He decided that keeping the dog in his room would be for the best and he would be able to sneak the dog out if needed. This arrangement worked for a while, but it all went sour once day. Tomura was lying in his bed with a book, his fluffy white dog sleeping next to him peacefully and next thing he knew his door was being kicked down. Tomura jumped up in a panic but it was too late, his father stood in the doorway seething with rage.

"What is this?" He growled looking at the small dog curled up on the bed.

"Daddy, please, I'm sorry!" Tomura begged already feeling the tears form.

"No, you know the rules." His father growled menacingly walking towards him.

Tomura felt his heart in his throat making it hard to breathe and the tears made it hard to see but he still ran up to his father trying to push him back away. This only caused him to get angrier and push him hard to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. Tomura gasped for air and watched in horror as his father grabbed the dog, holding it by the nape of the neck. He jumped up trying to grab the dog back from him earning him a firm slap. This didn't stop Tomura though, and he pulled the dog away from his father's grip and held tightly to the terrified dog.

"You're not going to hurt him! I won't let you." Tomura screamed with tears still streaming down his face.

His father was red in the face from anger and he knew that something very bad was going to happen. He's never defied his father like this before.

"I'm going to kill that damn dog and then I'm going to kill you."

This triggered something deep inside Tomura. Adrenaline filled his veins and before he had time to act his arms were light and his father stepped back with a fearful look in his eyes. He looked down in confusion. to see nothing but dust slipping through his fingers and the dog nowhere to be seen.

"Wha-"

"Stay back from me you little monster!" His father leaped back.

Tomura could only look at his hands in shock. His mind could not comprehend what had just happened.

"Daddy what's happening to me?" His small voice pleaded.

There was no response and he realized that his father had already fled the room leaving his son scared and confused. Later that day, a strange man came to their house to do tests on him. He was poked and prodded like a lab expirement. Blood tests were taken and the man had a private conversation with his father. Tomura didn't know what was going on but he knew that something was very wrong with him.

Before the man left, Tomura was given special gloves and was told it was very important that he never touch anyone with his hands. His father stopped hitting him after that day.

Tomura finally understood.

A/N: Okay I'm adding this after I've published this chapter, but in case anyone is confused as to why this chapter is formatted differently than the rest is because this is the only chapter I had pre-written, the other chapters I write as I go. Sorry if this confused anyone :(
