Based on "Memories" by @kashariak | I tried not to make it too similar, but I'm not sure how well I did. Hope you don't mind.

A/D Pairing (I've gotten kinda into writing it, but I will make the next chapter non-slash for those of you who prefer it.)

The boys are 27 and 28 in this. Dec is obviously the older one.

Enjoy x

Dec sat quietly on the end of a small fishing bridge looking at the cool water which gently lapped at the tips of his shoes. Dec sighed. He had come here every day, the place where him and Ant had finally admitted their feelings towards one another. The sun was setting beyond the green hills in the distance and the glow from the setting sun shimmered on the surface of the lake. It was the second most beautiful sight in the world, the first being Ant's eyes.

Dec wasn't sure how long he sat on the end of that bridge, but the sun had already set and all that was left was a faded light casting across the horizon to his left. Dec closed his eyes as the breeze blew gently across his face and then slightly harder the second time as if urging him to go home. But Dec couldn't go home he couldn't face the loss of recognition when he would get home and see Ant not knowing who he was.

The forgetfulness always came at night. He would arrive home from the bridge eager to see Ant and then the minute he stepped in the door he had no idea where he was. He would scream in frustration and fear as Ant would gently explain everything to him. Dec would remember everything at once and then was quickly exhausted by the rush of emotions.

Every night Ant would put up with him, making sure he ate and got cleaned up before putting him to bed. The only time he would have with Dec was in the early mornings and on the weekends. Ant had given up his job so that he could be available at any point in the day when Dec would suddenly get an unexpected spell of memory loss. Dec felt guilty for ruining Ant's life. He had worked so hard in his field, and he had decided to give it up the day that they had got the call from the hospital telling them Dec's diagnosis.

Ant sat fidgeting in his seat at work. He stared at the clock and waited eagerly to get home. Ant loved his work, but he loved his boyfriend more. The day before had been terrifying Dec had gotten home and stared at him in utter confusion. Dec had began to cry, not knowing where he was. Ant had briefed him on the details. Dec had remembered again everything fairly quickly, and Ant had taken him to the doctors. They had done some symptom checks and had told the pair of them that they would give them a call the next day.

Finally the clock struck 4 PM and Ant rushed home as soon as possible so he could be there before Dec came home. When Dec walked in the Door an hour later Ant let out a relieved sigh when Dec didn't forget who Ant was. Ant had hope that maybe the confusion from the night before had been a one time thing until the phone rang. Ant gazed at it wanting to answer but at the same time horrified as to what the doctor might say. Dec looked at Ant lovingly before walking over to pick up the phone. Ant watched Dec's emotions change rapidly as he nodded along with whatever the person on the end of the line was saying. Tears started to silently flow down his face. Dec put down the phone quickly after letting out a strangled thank you, and ran out the door.

Ant chased after Dec desperately when he saw him running in the direction of the lake, he was so worried for Dec's safety. Dec had ran the entire mile to the lake not slowing down once. Ant had been a few paces behind since he wasn't in the best shape. Ant was relieved to find that Dec was only sitting on their bridge sobbing his heart out. Ant walked over to Dec panting and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

They sat there for a while Dec leaning on Ant crying watching the sun go down. Dec had finally stopped crying and Ant waited a minute before speaking up.

"Dec, what did they say?" Ant said calmly despite the large amount of fear that had settled in his stomach, making him nauseous.

"Th-They said that..." Dec's breath hitched in his throat, "...that I probably have a severe case of transient global amnesia..." Dec finished and a few more tears spilled over his lashes.

Ant swallowed thickly before speaking once again. "Why... Why is it s-severe?"

"Because apparently people with TGA normally can remember who they are and who their family members are. I can-n't." Dec replied.

Ant closed his eyes and held Dec close to his chest letting his own tears fall onto Dec's soft brown hair.

"It's okay, we will get through this."

*Present*

Dec slowly got to his feet and prepared himself to be confused he strolled home at a leisurely pace.  He took in all the details of the beautiful city and smiled. If this was the last time he would be able to remember anything ever again Dec would be okay, At least he got to live most of his life with one of the most caring people in the entire world and live in such a beautiful place with such friendly people.

As Dec approached his home of 10 years he looked up at it and breathed in Deeply before turning the key In the door and stepping onto the front carpet.

Dec looked around expecting to be confused but to his amazement he wasn't, he looked at the man standing before him tensed and waiting for him to start crying. But when he didn't, Ant looked at Dec with pure shock.

"Decky?" Ant asked timidly and Dec smiled. Ant rushed forward and captured Dec in his arms rocking them back in forth for a few minutes before Ant released his grip and stared at Dec in disbelief.

"Why did you recognise me?"Ant asked in awe and pure relief.

"How could I not? You're unforgettable." Dec winked at Ant and pulled him close for another embrace.
