 prologue

"What i am about to tell you is extremely hard to believe, and i could lie and say that none of this ever happened. The truth is that the truth is harder to comprehend than anything i could ever make up in my mind. I've never really believed in fairy tales or ghost stories because I am a woman of fact. I'm a zoologist. I research animals and plants to try and discover new species that could possibly help change the world of modern medicine. So I'm sure that you could understand, when you hear about this, that some of the things I did, I did for the greater good of humanity, the things I've seen no one would be able to understand. My name is Jamie Constance and this a tale you will never forget"....

     Chapter one: On my way

"Omg trace I'm gonna be late!" "I can't find my keys" I exclaim in a huff,As I walk around my small studio apartment, which consists of one small bedroom, in which the door is hanging off the hinges, courtesy of a recent ex,and a small kitchen with little to no counter space, and a living room that made me think the people who built this place went off of a schematic blueprint of one of their thumbnails, with a small two seater leather couch in which my best friend currently resides lazily.

"Maybe you should try retracing your steps." She sighs lazily as she sprawls as carelessly as possible, stretching her leg out to,in turn, knock over my vase, which is probably the only thing in this small shitty apartment that is worth more than ten dollars. "Ugh trace what is wrong with you?" "Gosh I've got no time for this!" "I have to meet with Lester and friends in thirty or this one chance to change the world will escape me Trace!" She laughs and gives me an only slightly annoying smile and proceeds to sort through the glass to hold up my now priceless keys. "How about thank you for destroying your vase and finding the keys, pun intended, to your future". She laughs and tosses the keys to me. "Trace we will talk about this later" I say and rush out the door and past Mrs. Creshin, an elderly widow who lives across the hall from me, and down the three hundred steps to the outside world in which I so desperately want to change.

i practically jump in the car and race as fast as i possibly can down the crowded new york streets on my way to the building that is quite literally holding my future inside it,almost hitting a pedestrian on the crosswalk and stopping just in time to not get a vehicular manslaughter charge. The red light seemed to go on forever, like i was going to be stuck there for the rest of my life, when at last the light switched to green and i breathed a sigh of relief, glancing at my watch and realizing i had nothing to worry about in the first place because according to my watch not even a minute had fucking passed."take a breath Jamie it'll be fine" i tell myself as i pull in to the parking garage of the 15 floor building. i park and lock the car. hey Jamie whats up? big day huh?

i look over in the space next to me to see Josh Wenthrow an old friend of mine from high school. "Josh?" " holy shit is that you?" I exclaim. "No way!" " I proceed to run over and give him a bear hug for the ages, while he awkwardly takes it. "Hey Jamie." he smiles down at me, and in turn i blush hard and step back. "Walk with me i don't wanna be late" i'm still blushing when i ask, looking at my shoes, "what are you doing here?"
