Warning: Major spoilers inside
1. The basic idea for this story comes from a single scene where I imagine a guy who's crossing the street and the girl who wants to save him. Then I thought of adding a twist in which the one who wants to save him, ends up being injured instead. But since it's not twisty enough, I decided to add more twist by making the guy better off not being saved at all.
2. When I planned this story, I couldn't think of any other leads besides Jisoo and Jin. They match the concept of the characters that I was aiming for like puzzle pieces. Jisoo as a guardian angel and Jin as the kind-hearted clumsy man. Perfect!
3. The Guardian's Gift is actually the first installment of a trilogy that is called, 'Life, After'. It's a supernatural melodrama about creatures from the afterlife that interact with humans, creating conflicts and complications.
4. The Archaic dialogue that is included in the story is inspired by English translation of the Holy Qur'an (yes I'm a Muslim 😁) I thought of using regular form of English for the convos between Jisoo and The Almighty, but then it felt out of place, so I decided I would use Archaic instead. This story is my first attempt at incorporating Archaic style of language, did I nail it?
5. The Guardian's Gift is my first ever novella which I'm writing after taking 2.5 years of hiatus. All this time, I've only written poems, quotes, drabbles, one shots, and song fictions.
6. (Spoiler alert) My favorite scene of the story is when Jisoo meets Kihyun at the hospital, where he reveals that he's her best friend XD also the revelation that their lives have been rewritten.
7. (Spoiler alert) About the said twist at no. 6 above, it didn't come out as planned. At first, I want to resume their old life as the way it was, with Kihyun being the one who brought unconscious Jisoo and Jin to the hospital. But then, a miraculous idea appeared. How about The Almighty resets their lives AND turn Yongguk and Kihyun as Jisoo's best friends along with Jin? That is SO MUCH BETTER and I'M LIVING FOR IT!
