"With how creative you are, I'd assume you'd have a decent gift-picking ability.""Oh shut up, I don't want to hear it from the lady who forgot about his birthday in its entirety."
Y/n laid a slap against Mina's shoulder, huffing a playful sigh at their banter. Having called Mina in advance to meet after work, they were now sifting through stores at the mall in attempt to find a gift for their friend. The one problem presented itself after the third store; what do you get a man who has everything? The notion seemed hopeless.
Jungkook was an avid videogame collector, fashionista and makes a killing through streaming and posting YouTube videos. He started picking up a decent following a few years ago, and was pretty much set to get whatever he wanted. Finding a meaningful gift proved to be much more difficult than originally anticipated.
Y/n knew he'd be grateful for anything, but that didn't stop her from wanting to gift him something he'd love. She already had something prepared, but she still wanted to find something else. Mina didn't appear to have the same drive as her counterpart however, complaining five minutes in.
After coming out of the fifth store empty handed, Mina plopped down on a bench with a sigh, "We're never gonna find anything."
Y/n smirked in return, "Speak for yourself, I ordered something online, I'm only here to pick up some gag gifts and to aid your helpless ass in finding something." Mina's eyes widened at the news, grabbing Y/n's hand to plead.
"What did you get him? I beg you, I need ideas."
Huffing playfully, Y/n clicked open her phone, pulling up a picture of the gift and shoving it toward Mina, who gasped. "You're a genius.."
The standing woman smiled triumphantly, "I know."
Mina joined Y/n, standing and starting to walk again. "You have a text by the way, some random number."
"Oh, do I? Lemme check." Sure enough, a text notification showed on her home screen, displaying a name she wasn't all too familiar with.

Namjoon
Hey, it's Namjoon. Is this Y/n?It is, what's up Namjoon?
Namjoon
Well, I was about to head to the convenience store, how about I pay you back for that drink?- - -
"Oh~ you got a date Y/nnie?" Mina chirped playfully from behind Y/n's shoulder, having read the messages.
The woman swatted the other away dismissively, "It's not a date, I met him at a convenience store. He could be an axe murderer for all I know."
"So I take it you're not gonna meet up with him?" She questioned.
"Well.." Y/n stared at the text, contemplating.
"You should! And I know so if you go missing I can call the police."
Y/n scoffed at Mina's comment, "Gee thanks."
Leading the girl out of the mall, the pair relished in the cool breeze of the outdoors. Once they reached the parking garage, Mina spoke up.
"You should go, meet new people! I can wait at your place or something, hell I can even come with you if you want. "
Sifting through her thoughts, Y/n contemplated Mina's suggestion. On one hand, she barely knew this guy, only having texted him to confirmed that it was the right number. And on the other, they were only meeting at a store by her house, what's the worst that could happen? One she reached a decision, the woman continued to walk with Mina, clicking the unlock button on her key fob.
"Fine, but if I get kidnapped I'm haunting your ass," she muttered.
"Fair enough, but you could end up getting some di- Ow! What was that for?" Mina rubbed her forehead with a pout, Y/n smiling in satisfaction.
"For being a pervert-"
[time skip]
Namjoon sat on the table outside the store, fingers tapping against the metal as he contemplated leaving. Was he a bit too forward with her? Would she think him a creep? Soon enough, his legs started to bob anxiously as his mind wandered aimlessly.
"Sorry I'm late, I was running an errand with my friend," a voice startled him. Looking up he saw the woman he hoped to see, a small smile gracing her windblown features.
He stood up before offering his hand, "No problem. I'm sorry for the abrupt invite, I was just in the area and thought why not?" Holding up one of the double doors, Namjoon held it open for Y/n who thanked him before heading inside.
"So," he started, "What's on the menu today? Do you plan to spend the entire time in front of the drinks again?"
The mans teasing made Y/n's face heat in embarrassment, she wished he hadn't remembered that.
But upon seeing her blush, Namjoon was glad he brought it up, even just to see her reaction. "Just teasing," he laughed, "I'm gonna go grab a snack, be right back." Nodding, Y/n hastily grabbed a drink before seeking out her mystery companion. Upon finding him she began the questioning, determined to find out more about him. Whether it be for self preservation or pure curiosity, we may never know.
"So, how old are you?"
"24," he replied, looking through the sweets isle, "You?"
"Oh, 21. You look way younger, I thought I was older than you," Y/n joked as they delved into pleasant conversation. By the time the pair had wandered to the checkout (where Namjoon had begged her to let him pay), she had found out that he lives about five minutes away from here, but has been staying with his parents to care for his grandma, who had recently fallen ill. He also had a younger brother who he was close with.
Now back at the place where they met up, Namjoon swirled his half empty can as Y/n munched on her snack of choice.
"So, what do you do for a living. You're still a student right?"
Looking up from her food, Y/n's eyes sparkled with excitement, "I'm actually in a paid internship, a rare stroke of luck I'd say. It fits right in with my major, and will look great on resumes. I actually don't mind the work too much, and my boss is nice." Realizing she was rambling, Y/n apologized, to which Namjoon waved off.
"What do you do Namjoon?" the woman questioned.
"I'm actually a professor at *insert college.* I graduated two years early and started right away. I teach economics."
Y/n's eyes widened. "Hold on, I go there! How come I've never seen you before?"
"No clue, what a lucky coincidence," Namjoon replied with the same enthusiasm.
"I'll have to check out your class next semester," Y/n half-joked with a smile.
A new look overtook Namjoon's face, something close to a gentle smile, but with something hidden behind his eyes.
"Why, I'd love nothing more than for you to be my student."
