Holding the luxurious white fabric in my hands, I couldn't believe that someone would spend $250 on a complete stranger and walk away without even getting their name.

"Why are you pouting?" Eva questioned as she admired herself in the full-length mirror.

I turned to face my friend while holding the dress like it was liquid silk. Eve had chosen a hot pink number which featured a daring plunging neckline, ruched fabric along the hips and long sleeves. She looked like a blonde bombshell and I had no doubts that all eyes would be on her tonight at the party.

"I can't wear this."

"Sure, you can!"

"I don't even know his name..."

"April, chill out. The man did a good deed. Did you see his suit? That was definitely Armani.... Trust me, if he can walk around in an eight-thousand-dollar suit, that dress was pocket change for him."

I sighed and tugged off my tank top and started to wiggle the dress on. It was like a second skin and glistened in our low lighting.

"I didn't even get to say thank you." I muttered, taken aback by how the dress highlighted my tanned complexion.

"Well, maybe we'll run into him again."

"Maybe." I said hopefully, trying to hide my flushed cheeks.

I gestured towards the zip on the back of the dress and Eve sauntered over to pull it up. She caught my expression in the mirror and started grinning like a maniac and I knew my cover was blown. She knew me too well.

"You look really creepy when you smile that."

"Thanks, it's a gift."

"Why are you so happy?"

"You liked him, didn't you?"

"I don't even know who he is."

"And? I can see your cheeks getting redder, April. You liked him!"

I laughed softly and batted her away before taking a step back. The dress hugged every curve and reached the tip of my knees while my back was completely exposed, apart from a few dainty crystal straps. It was breath-taking. For the first time in my life, I felt like I looked absolutely stunning.

"How do I look?" I asked, bending down to fasten my glittering silver heels.

"April... You look incredible."

"Thank you, Eve."

"Don't change the subject."

I rolled my eyes and tried to steady my heartbeat. Eve was right of course, but then I'm sure most people would have said the same about the mysterious man. He was almost other-worldly, like a God among men...

"Get a grip, April!" I muttered to myself. He was just a man. Just an incredibly gorgeous, generous man who had bought us both a dress and had walked out without ever having a chance to thank him or know his name.
