CC blankly stared at the ceiling as she laid in bed with Lelouch asleep next to her. The room was pitch black, and all she could see was dark. It made her think back to when she was in Britannia's custody. She thought of when she was locked up in that cold lab and enclosed in that tight dark space whenever the tests were over. She may not have been in a tight space at the moment, but the darkness of the room still made her think of being held in that capsule.
CC turned on her side and looked at Lelouch. She noted that he looked much more content when he was asleep. He always seemed so stressed or even scared when he was awake, but when he was asleep, his face was relaxed and his eyebrows weren't furrowed.
A small smile came over CC's face as she gently combed her fingers through Lelouch's hair. She remembered that once she was freed from the dark and let into the light, Lelouch was the first thing she saw. He would end up being the introduction to her life with light. They had been through a lot since that day and had only grown closer.
She remembered when she thought she would lose him forever in the Zero Requiem. It was the first time in so long that she had shed tears. She also remembered how cold and dark the world felt again with him gone, but when she got him back, the light came back to her life. It was hard at first with him being so different and losing that small spark in his eyes, but she could still remember when he was truly himself again. More than anything, she could remember when he ran after her and was willing to leave everything behind in order to have a life with her.
Lelouch brought the light into CC's otherwise dark life, and she was grateful. She loved him greatly and couldn't think of anything better than laying there beside him at that moment. She snuggled up to him and buried her face in his chest and felt his arms enclose around her in his sleep. She smiled again as she closed her eyes. She could bear the dark as long as she had her light.
