You couldn't help but smile as you gazed over at the nervous boy who sat a few desks away from you. As usual, Tamaki was shaking and feeling nervous about something. You couldn't help but find it cute when he acted that way. It would remind you of a timid little kitten. You had always wanted to approach him, but you were always afraid you would scare him off. He seemed anxious about everyone and everything aside from his friends Mirio Togata and Nejire Hado. You sighed wondering if you'd ever be able to talk to him properly.
Togata and Hado might've seemed like airheads, but they could see the way you look at Tamaki, and they've noticed the timid glances he's sent your way. Togata had seen him do it since they first saw you at the beginning of middle school. He knew his best friend, and he could tell what was going on.
"Hey, Tamaki," Mirio said placing a hand on his friend's shoulder. "You know Valentine's Day is coming up. Think you'll be getting chocolates from anyone in particular?"
"N-n-no," Tamaki said shaking. "All the girls in this school terrify me."
"But Tamaki," Hado butted in. "Everything terrifies you."
"Yes, b-b-but girls are especially frightening," Tamaki said as he continued to tremble. "I've seen so many giving me these terrifying looks in the halls and just staring at me in the cafeteria."
"Tamaki, you silly kitten," Hado said patting his head. "They're looking at you because they like you."
"L-l-like m-me?" Tamaki asked trembling harder.
"Yeah, you know," Mirio said. "Like they want to go out with you."
"G-g-go out?!" Tamaki exclaimed standing up straight before fainting.
The whole class gasped and gathered around asking if he was alright. You were the first that came to his aid, supporting his head on your lap as you called out to him and Mirio rushed to get him some water.
"Amajiki, can you hear me?" you asked lightly patting his face. "Amajiki?"
"Stand back!" Mirio called out as he came fishing forward with water. Everyone backed away just before he splashed the water on Tamaki's face, making him sputter back to consciousness.
"Amajiki, are you alright?" you asked looking down at him.
"Huh?" he said as he came to. It took a moment for him to notice the position he was in, and his face turned red. "(L/n)?"
"Yeah," you said still looking down at him.
Tamaki then noticed everyone staring at him and began to get extremely nervous. "Potatoes!" he suddenly exclaimed.
"What?" you said confused as Tamaki quickly got up and ran out of the room still yelling "potatoes".
"I'll go after him," Mirio said calmly walking out the door.
"What just happened?" you asked standing up.
"Nothing to worry about," Hado said. "That's just Tamaki for you. So you're (l/n)?"
"Yes," you said.
"Oh, so you're Tamaki's middle school crush," she said with a smile.
"Huh?!" you exclaimed blushing like crazy.
"Oh yeah," she said with a smile. "Mirio told me all about how Tamaki couldn't stop looking at you at the middle school orientation and even afterwards in classes."
"H-h-huh?" you said again feeling like you were gonna die. Your crush had a crush on you?
"Oh, Valentine's Day isn't far off," Hado said. "So, are you gonna give him chocolate?"
"I, um, I'm not sure," you said blushing. "I didn't really think about that."
"I think you should," she said with a smile. "It would probably make his day."
You couldn't help the small smile that appeared on your face as you continued to blush.
The next couple days went by and it was Valentine's Day. You took a deep breath as you stared at the little heart-shaped box in your hands. You worked hard the last couple days trying to make the best homemade chocolate for Tamaki. You felt nervous, but you felt like it was now or never.
You entered your class to see several girls were giving chocolates to their crushes. Mirio and Tamaki both had a lot. Mirio seemed to be enjoying it, while Tamaki looked like he was dying of embarrassment. You took one last deep breath as you approached Tamaki's desk.
"A-Amajiki," you said with a small blush appearing on your face. "W-would you be willing t-to talk with in th-the hall?"
Tamaki was blushing like crazy but slowly nodded his head and followed you out into the hallway.
"S-so, w-what d-d-did you w-want to t-t-talk about," Tamaki stuttered.
"I, um..." you blushed a deeper shade of red before showing him the heart-shaped box. "I made you some chocolates!"
You both stood there blushing and shaking for a moment, neither of you moving. "I know this is dumb," you said. "I just wanted to give you something nice, and... tell you how I feel."
Tamaki was blushing so hard, one could probably see steam coming out of his ears. "Th-thank you," Tamaki said gently grabbing the box and opening it. He placed a chocolate into his mouth, and his eyes instantly lit up. "I-it's good."
"Thank you," you said blushing. "So, would you want to... maybe... meet up sometime, and... you know... hang out?"
"S-s-sure," Tamaki stuttered.
"You free this Friday?" you asked. "Around 8:00?" Tamaki just nodded. "I-I'll see you then."
You both quickly went back into the classroom and sat in your seats. You both were blushing messes.
"Alright, buddy," Mirio said with a smile. "You snagged one." Tamaki just blushed more and slowly slunk to the floor.
