The first time they had met, Atsumu Miya was on a date. Though, it was questionable wether he was fully enjoying it.
"Miya-san! Their strawberry shortcakes are the best in town and recently they added blueberry to the menu too", Kaori babbled, looking over to see the blond setter on his phone disinterestedly.
Truthfully, the setter had already started to regret his decision of accepting her date proposal as her nonstop talking was already somewhat getting on his nerves. His mouth was itching to release his infamous line that may or may not correlate to some muddy pink creatures, but he resisted.
Atsumu hadn't changed much since high school; he was as passionate as ever, but only when it came to volleyball. When it came to girls...let's just say he had a new one every week. He had a bad habit of dropping things after he got bored and he had no problem dropping girls just as quick.
A bell chimed as the 2-day couple made their way through a pair of double doors, Kaori looking around the shop in amazement while Atsumu's gaze remained locked on his screen.
"Hello Kaori-san! What would you like to order today?" A young college student queried, her Carmel brown eyes meeting Kaori's black ones in a warm welcome. While the latter had only been at the shop a couple of times, Mayumi always paid special attention in remembering the names of every customer.
She was one of the reasons people kept coming back for more - her and the brilliant cake recipes that she helped to formulate.
"I'll be getting a strawberry shortcake."
Mayumi nodded, moving to enter it into the cashier before noticing the head of blond that was besides the girl. She contemplated wether she should ask for his order as well since Kaori looked noticeably flustered while trying to get his attention.
"Sir, would you like to order anything as well?" She finally questioned, deciding to save the other girl from mister grouch.
Atsumu scowled and lifted his eyes from his phone briefly, breath hitching when he caught sight of the beauty standing in front of him. Her hair was mostly tied back in a loose, high ponytail with the exception of her wispy bangs that framed her natural face shape all too perfectly.
The friendly smile that sat on her lips urged him to form a smile of his own as he clicked his phone shut to order.
Only to have his voice crack after speaking his first word.
Mayumi wasn't intimidating; no, she was the furthest from what most people would consider scary. Rather, she had a charm about her that made others nervous to mess up in fear they wouldn't match up to her standards, especially the boys.
Atsumu was no exception.
The female laughed quietly, shaking her head slightly as she swept the loose pieces of her loose hair to the side. "Alright, that'll be $13.49 in total for the two cakes", she announced politely and Atsumu handed over his card.
Swiftly swiping it, she handed it back and informed the two it'll just be a few minutes before the cakes were out. While Mayumi moved onto the next customer, giving him the same bright greeting, a pair of amber brown eyes never lost their focus on her.
Atsumu couldn't help but linger his gaze upon the ethereal being a few meters away. Even while his phone chimed with messages from the various amounts of girls he'd picked up over the past several months, his attention never strayed from the one who was patiently taking in all the orders.
There was something about her he couldn't place a finger on, something beyond her looks, something that made him want to spend time with her.
It was the combination of her aura and charisma that had Atsumu weak.
Atsumu didn't know it yet, but she was the one who would finally make the playboy in him turn soft and sweet.
"Here's your cheesecake sir", a melodious called out next to him, making the setter grin widely.
"Ya can call me Atsumu, sweetheart."
Cheesecake: a rich dessert cake made with cream and soft cheese on a graham cracker, cookie, or pastry crust, typically topped with a fruit sauce.
