Not this again...
Patricia thought combing through her hair. What was supposed to be a fun outdoor game week with all the residents in the manor, ended up becoming an outright war between everyone. She knew that they were competitive but she didn't think it was this bad. Without saying anything, she found herself on one side of the crudely drawn line made by the Magician.
"Alright! Now that the teams for the capture the flag tournament have been decided, here are the rules!" Everyone lined up on their respective side to listen. They watched as he toyed with the wand in his hand.
"Number one! No hiding flags in weird places, I'm looking at you Mike." The Acrobat whistles a tune looking away from the Magician with a smirk.
"Number two! All flags must be placed somewhere on the campsite. All retrieved enemy flags must be brought back to the center for it to count as a point. The enemy team can steal back their flags, however only the team leader has that ability."
The Magician looked at Vera and the Mechanic. Both girls stood parallel to each other, glaring at one another.
Patricia looked at Vera and sighed, 'How did I end up on this side? The Mechanic has the better team... Look, they even have the Priestess!' She thought.
"Number three! You can only switch sides if someone agrees to switch with you. And lastly, the most important rule." He paused.
"Rule number four! No one crosses this line till the game starts." He points the stick to the barely straight line that ran all the way across the camp. "Those who do will be punished."
Vera called a team meeting that night to discuss the game plan for tomorrow's game. On the blue team there were five competitors: Lawyer, Thief, Lucky Guy, Vera and Enchantress.
Vera swirled a lock of hair around her finger, "So any of you got any ideas?"
"Well," Freddy started "I have optimized my map here to outline and pinpoint every location of the red teams' flags huehue!"
"You mean my map!" Kreacher looped his arm over Freddy's shoulder, yanking away at the map.
"No it's mine!"
"No it's mine Vera don't listen to him!~"
The two were now going back and forth, the map being pulled in every direction with every 'no it's mine.' Vera sighed, "Would you guys knock it off?" The two ignored her and continued their argument. Vera then turned to Lucky and Enchantress, "Well don't just stand there!"
Frantically, Lucky stepped in but he only got dragged into it.
"Great, looks like I got three idiots on my team..." Vera sighed once more, "What about you?" She asked looking at Enchantress for some hope.
"W-Who m-me?"
"Who else would I be asking right now?" Vera looked on at the three fighting. "Care to stop acting like a background character and help out?"
Those words hit the Enchantress like a knife. She has always been a reserved person and became even more introverted because of her 'curse'. She wasn't sure if the others truly understood her abilities, hell, she didn't quite understand them herself.
Putting her hands on her cheeks to calm herself down, she turned to Vera. "You... might want to cover your ears." With a shrug, Vera did as she was told and Patricia began to chant the words under her breath. The monkey skull in her palm started to levitate, around it a red aura formed and shifted, giving the skull a body. It rose behind the arguing trio, its shadow towering over them. Realizing that something was off, the three slowly raised their heads up to look at what was behind them. The 'ape' let out a loud screech which shook the entire room, scaring all those who heard it. What followed after was the sound of paper tearing and the thud of Kreacher falling to the ground.
