Feeling the heaviness of his eyelids, he kept them shut and just enjoyed the feeling of waking up.

Ahh... My body feels so light right now, except for... My chest feels kinda heavy, maybe it's because of the injuries I got from...

Lucky finally lost his train of thought when he felt something cold and wet drip onto his cheek.

Why do I hear panting... WAIT, PANTING?

"No! Get away from me!!" Waking up in a fright, Lucky threw his covers onto the floor, grabbing his pillow as a shield and dashed to the other end of the room in hopes of escape. The small dog kept up the chase and bolted after him.

"N-n-n-no!!"

There was a reason that Lucky was a veteran. He vaulted the beds in the infirmary like they were nothing, and had no problem jumping over the test tables either. Despite that, the dog was determined to catch him, as if he was chasing a squirrel.

Unfortunately for Lucky, he was quickly losing stamina and could feel the wounds from yesterday's matches opening up once more. Fearing for his life, he raised his pillow over his head and ducked into the nearest corner.

"Please make it stop... Please make it stop!" His prayers were answered when the door to the infirmary creaked open and a voice called from the entrance.

"Hey Wick, come here boy!"

"Woof woof!" Right on cue, the dog dashed towards the voice's direction.

"Are you okay Lucky?" Peeking out from his pillow, he saw Naib's concerned face.

"I-is it gone?" he asked in a shaky voice.

"It? Oh right, you mean Wick. Yep, he's with Vic now."

"Are there others?"

"It's just Victor's dog, don't worry scaredy-cat!" Naib teased, but Lucky's eyes surveyed the room, triple-scanning to make sure he was correct.

Holding a sign that read "Are you okay, Lucky?" Victor walked up to the two, carrying Wick in one arm and a stack of cue cards in the other. Lucky panicked and buried his head into his pillow once more.

Lucky's reaction saddened Victor a little, he quickly scribbled on a cue card, "Did I do something wrong?"

"I guess you didn't know, since you're still new in the manor huh, Vic." Naib looked at the dog in Victor's arms and patted Wick on the head. "Lucky's afraid of dogs, like deathly afraid."

The postman shyly blushed, "I'm sorry Lucky, I didn't know!" he wrote on a new sheet of paper. Scrambling to think of things to write, Victor put Wick onto the floor and flipped through his messenger bag. He fished out a letter with the words "To: Luca Balsa" written on it, before giving and gesturing to the dog to deliver the message.

With haste, Wick dashed out of the door and went on his mission.

"Okay Lucky, Wick's gone now, it's time to stop death-gripping the poor pillow..." Naib chuckled.

Lucky slowly got to his feet but still kept the pillow closely to his chest.

With sincerity, Victor wrote on the back of his cue card, "Sorry again Lucky, I'd asked Wick to check on you early to make sure you were okay." He took off his hat and held it up to his chest. "Yesterday's match was really hard on all of us but you were the one that got injured the most so I was worried..." he continued.

Feeling a slight pang of guilt for how he reacted, Lucky let out an uneasy laugh. "No... It's my fault... All of it, actually. The match wasn't great because I did my best to avoid your dog... I'm sorry I should have told you earlier..."
