The heart's battle

Chapter 7

« Tell me again what you are doing here ? »

Max frowned at June's bouncing form next to him, both were walking from his parked motobike to his family's house front door. Since June read his mother's text yesterday, she had made it her mission to accompany him to the family dinner.

« For moral support of course ! » She smiled brightly at him, her eyes shining with a not-so innocent look.

« Yeah, as if ... It's not because you are curious about him of course. »

Max rolled his eyes as she looked back at him, faking a confused look with her red painted lips turned into a pout.

Stopping in the middle of the lane, she grabbed both his shoulders, and all trace of humor disappeared from her eyes « I'm here because I care about you, and I want to make sure he is not a total asshole. »

Staring into her eyes, Max saw the sincerity of her words, and a warm feeling overruned his heart. His shoulders slumped in defeat, « M'kay. »

« Also, I want to see how hot this guy really is, since he is able to make you all confused like that. »

« I knew it ! You tattletale »

Anyone watching this scene would have seen a rather gorgeous woman, giggling while running away from an equally handsome furious man.

They stopped in front of his house door, out of breath, June still trying to annoy her best friend, when the front door opened suddenly.

« Juneeee ! I thought I heard your voice. »

Max winced at his sister squealing tone, and it made him remembered why he liked Maylee and June not meeting each other.

« May-May ! Long time no see »

Both girls ran into each other arms, hugging tightly as both said at the same time « I missed you »

Max would have puke if it was not such a cute sight. Slightly jealous of the attention his best friend was getting, he decided it was time for Maylee to remember she had a brother she had yet to greet. « Err, can't I get an hug too ? »

« I can give you one if you want » whispered a seductive voice in his ear.

Unnoticed by Max, Tul had sneaked behind him, startling him in the process. He turned around to face the objects of his recent torments, and was left speechless as he was once again awestruck by the student handsome face.

« So ? Want one ? » Tul smiled expectantly at him, biting his lower lips to contain his excitement at seeing him. Max looked in fascination, at his bottom lip reddening to his teeth pressure. When he raised his head back, he found Tul staring back at him, eyes wide, pupils dilated, breath rapid and shallow. His body seemed to have a mind of its own as he felt it getting closer to the browned hair man before him.

« Hey you two, what are you whispering about ? »

However, Maylee's voice stopped him before he could do anything stupid like kiss him in front of everyone. Relieved, he sighed and turned away from the dangerously attractive boy. It was not the first time for them to be in this situation, but, in front of others ? His family nonetheless ! This was too much for Max, who decided from there to just ignore Tul. Nevermind June advice to just play along with whatever the other will come up with. The desire in Tul's eyes was too palpable and dangerous.

« Nothing. » If he had paid a little more attention, he would have noticed the disappointed look in Tul's eyes.

As he passed by June to enter his parent's house, she caught his arms and said in a hushed tone « it's so obvious you have the hot for each other. »
Giving her a one sided glance, he detached himself from her grasp and entered the house without uttering a word.
