A cry caught in Max's throat as his mouth was glued to Tul's palm. The younger boy released him, his lips trembling in fear as the body above him slowly removed itself. Max stood up hastily, fetching for his discarded clothes on the floor, « what the hell ? I thought they were supposed to be out tonight ? » He whispered, voice shaking, but this time not from arousal.

« I ... don't understand ... » Tul furrowed his eyebrows, confused beyond reason. He really had no idea as to how and why his parents were home since they were supposed to be at their friend's place. However, right now was not the time to thing about that, he had think fast and well before his mother had the time to barge in. Pushing his boyfriend back down on the bed, Tul throw the cover on Max's half clothed body. « Just get under the cover for now. »

He just had the time to straighten his clothes that his bedroom door opened quietly, his mother's figure appearing in the door frame, « Tul ? Didn't you hear- » She stoped mid-sentence, rising an eyebrow in a silent question as her eyes were going back and forth between her son and the unknown boy lying in his bed.

« Ah ! Mom, you are home already » the high school student let out a forced laugh as he scratched his forearm uneasily.

« The dinner was canceled » she replied, her eyes still fixated on the dark haired boy that her son had still yet to introduce to her. « Did I interrupt something here ? »

« Ah ! No, no ! » he passed a hand nervously through his disheveling hair, « that's ... that's Maylee brother. Max » He finally said. He realized how suspicious his actions and words might be to his mother but as much as he wanted to be confident about the whole coming out thing, he was still scared beyond anything about his parents reaction. And, he had definitely not planned to come out today.

« Hi M'am » Max uttered, his voice a faint sound, his eyes resolutely fixated on the blanket. He could not find it in himself to look up and meet the woman's eyes. He was probably making it even more awkward and difficult for his lover but he was too embarassed, and most of all, he was scared . He had the feeling she had seen through Tul's blatant lie. How stupid he had been to go along Tul's proposition to spend the night at his house when they could have been caught any time. They had been playing with fire, and it almost burned them this time.

« Is that so ... » she trailed off, waiting for the rest of the explanation.

« He came to help me on my math assignement » he smiled, « you know how much I hate it ... »

« It doesn't explain why that boy is in your bed ... » she tilted her head in the brunette's direction, eyeing him insistently, waiting for his version of the story. Was he really Maylee's brother ? She was such a nice and polite girl, she could not believe that this awkward shy boy was her brother. Also, what was doing her half naked brother in her son's room, she wondered as she furtively eyed the abandoned piece of clothes on the floor.

« Ah ! He ... »

« I'm sorry, M'am. I just felt dizzy for a second and I asked Tul if I could rest in his bed. » Max finally declared, and looked back at her confidently. He could not let Tul alone in this predicament, now was not the time to chicken out.

« Ah, I see ... » Tul's mother finally replied. She sighed softly, her eyes darting furtively to the shirt laying on the bedroom floor. She was not an idiot, she knew what they were up to. What with their messy appareance, suspicious answer and attitude. No, she was not an idiot. She had always known that her son was gay. Call it mother instinct, but she had known from the start that her son was not 'normal'. Do not minsunderstand her, she did not think that homosexuality was abnormal, it is just not the path they would have naturally choose for him. It really was not a problem to her, she was not  that narrow minded. It was 2020 anyway, and she could accept and embrace all sort of love. Her husband though ... She did not want to think about that now. Right now, her job was to reassure her only son that his secret was safe with her, and that she would still love him regardless what happens. « Tul, are you sure you don't have anything to tell me ? »
