You were walking down the streets of London, talking to your best friend. She was telling you about her crazy boyfriend when a man with black curly hair ran up to you.
He grabbed you by the shoulders and looked you dead in the eye. "In the coffee shop yesterday, was there a man with a blue cane?" He asked frantically.
"What?!" You asked, bewildered.
"Was there or wasn't there?!"
You closed your eyes, trying to remember your trip to get coffee. "Yes. There was." you answer.
The man hurriedly thanked you and took off running again.
"Did you know him?" Your friend asked.
"No, but he's completely mental..." you reply.
Just as you were about to be on your way again, another man ran up to you. He was shorter than the first man and he, unlike the first man, didn't look as if he had gone mad.
"Don't mind my friend," he told you. "He's trying to solve a murder."
"I think your friend is a psychopath." you determined.
"High-functioning sociopath." he corrected, making you smile a little.
The man turned to run after his friend again, but paused and looked at you again.
"Um... would you happen to be doing anything tomorrow, say, eight o'clock?" He asked nervously.
You smiled at him and replied, "Nothing at all."
"John!" Came the distant shout of the crazy man.
"Well, here..." he said, quickly scribbling down his number. "I'll call you?" He asked.
"I'd like that." you say, accepting the piece of paper.
"John!" The crazy man shouted again.
The man, John, rolled his eyes and gave you an apologetic look before taking off running again.
You looked over at your friend, a stupid grin across your face. "Guess I'm not single anymore." you say.
Your friend stared at you for a moment before saying, "Half of me wonders if the first man was only acting crazy so that his friend would have an excuse to talk to you."
Both of you laughed and continued walking home.
