Kamila's P.O.V
Since life is hitting me hard at home I spend most of my time at my job. A comic store. It helps me escape from reality and just focus on fiction. Superheroes have been an inspiration for me most of my life, and I know it sounds dumb but that's my imagination.
" Kamila, come help this guy!" Marc, my boss, shouted.
Marc was pretty attractive. He was a brunette with pale blue eyes, kind of a flirt too. Marc would be with a girl for a night and be on to her best friend the next. When I first started working there, he checked me out once in a while but never made a move. But I started talking to him one day when the store had a special event going on. He was a nice guy, ignoring the fact that he was a player. Now, our friendship was pretty much at its max. Marc was like a big brother to me now.
I nodded. I slowly walked up to the customer, smiling.
"Hi." I looked up. "What can I help you with?"
His appearance radiated kindness and something mysterious.
"Hi." He just blankly stared at me with an idiotic smile on his face. There was silence for about what seemed like hours.
"Ummmm... Can I help you, bro?"
"O- yeah sorry. Can I just buy this comic? Please."
I chuckled and took the book from his hands. As I touched the book I came in contact with his soft hands. I awkwardly looked up and caught him smiling at me. I quickly looked back down, blushing.
"Um, Star Wars, huh? "
"Kind of a big deal to me." He blushed. "My name's Brennen by the way."
" I'm Kamila. Nice to meet you." I handed him the comic. "If you ever need to, you know, buy anything or want any suggestions you can come to me."
His whole aura was perfect. His green eyes were indescribable. His eyes just stared into my being in the most amazing way. I was simply captivated by this guy. Brennen.
" I just need to ask for one more favor."
" Sure. Anything."
" Can I take you out sometime?"
I froze. No. No. He's just messing with me. How can this beautiful guy be asking me out? Besides, I'm not looking for anything serious. I don't have time.
"I'm not really looking for a relationship right now, but-"
"No, no. I just want to get to know you. I'm not trying to hit on you or anything." He laughed smoothly.
"Oh okay. That's a relief, I guess." I slightly shook my head.
"Kamila! Stop flirting and start helping these dudes out." Marc pointed at a group of guys in front of him.
"Hold up. Well, I'll be back." I left Brennen at the cashier.
Several minutes later I go back to the cashier and find that Brennen's gone. For some reason I felt a bit disappointed. I looked down at the counter and found the Star Wars comic Brennen bought.
"He left it. Why?" It wasn't like he had bought several things and simply forgot one thing. No. This was different.
For the rest of the day I spent my time thinking about Brennen. I don't even know why! But the thought of him made me smile.
"Stop smiling like an idiot and talk to me." Marc appeared behind me, making me drop a stack of books.
"You- you idiot. You scared me!" I laughed.
Marc smiled with his perfect teeth and helped me pick up the books.
"You know, he asked for you."
"What?"
"After he picked the book he wanted he walked up to me and asked if you could help him. I offered to help cmbut he refused. He just wanted you."
"Well, he was cool." That was all I could say.
"Oh shut up! You need to talk to him! He's into you, like deep."
"Marc," I give him a death glare " it's never happening. We've talked about this, I don't believe in that."
"Hey! I don't believe in it either, but I'm a guy. And you're younger than me. You have no reason to be so bitter. I don't believe in love either, but that kid means business with you."
"Whatever. I'll see you tomorrow." I tightly hugged Marc.
"I'll walk you home."
Together we walked into the chilly night. We talked about Marc's commitment issues in relationships and how much he missed the "single days" until we reached my house. I still lived with my mom and her husband in a 5 bedroom home in Burbank, but didn't spend much time in it. I would spend most of my time at work or at the park, then I'd just come home to sleep. I couldn't really handle what was happening right now, so I decided not to be around it.
"So we're here. Thanks again." I smiled.
"No problem, Kam." He hugged me tight. He suddenly stopped and grabbed both of my shoulders. "Kam, I care about you and I want you to always know that. You gotta take care of yourself kid. There's a lot of fake people in this world but I'm not one of them. You... Have.... Me." He stared into my hazel eyes.
"Shut up Mr. Commitment-Issues!" I laughed, trying to make it less awkward. I had never seen Marc act this way and I had no other way to react.
We hugged one last time and I went to sleep thinking about today's strange events.
Brennen's P.O.V
Her plump rosy lips, her light brown hair with gold highlights, her stunning hazel eyes. Everything was just unbelievable. When I first saw her I knew I needed her. I wanted her. She was the girl I wanted to fall in love with. I think I might already be in love. I had seen her working there before but I never talked to her. I don't even think she noticed me. But this time I wasn't going to let this chance pass me. As I talked to her all these emotions and feelings welled up inside of me. I was about to explode. So many things were happening inside of me that I can't even describe. It was all so unreal. I just couldn't take my eyes off her.
When I asked her out, she let me down. But that wouldn't stop me. They way we smiled and looked at each other was irreplaceable. Her eyes read every inch of me but didn't give me the chance to do the same. I always knew that looking at someone's eyes you would know what type of person they were but she was closed book. At times she seemed shy but sometimes she seemed distant. I had no clue on what type of person she was, but that only interested me even more. She was a book way above my grade level but I was determined to read it.
"Kamila. Kamila." I whispered.
The thought of her made smile. I slowly drifted off to sleep, Kamila still deep in my thoughts.
