I made my way up the countless flights of stairs in the east tower of U.A. High. My crush and closest friend, Miya, had invited me up to the rooftop during club time for a private conversation. To be honest, I had noticed that something was wrong earlier that day and I was ready to relax after dealing with it all...

Rewind...

I slid the door to the classroom open, happy to see my friends again. I walked inside to see the usual sight of everyone laughing and talking, but there was someone missing from the circles of students.                                                           Miya.
I turned to the corner of the room to find my close friend: her hair was draped over her face, her eyes seemed vacant of all sort of emotion, she was holding her locket so tight that her hands were white, and she was staring off at nothing. I tapped Ochaco on the shoulder, "Hey, is... Miya alright? Has she spoke to you at all?" Ochaco looked into my eyes and saw the concern inside of them, "I'm so sorry... she hasn't... she's just smiled half-heartedly when we asked if she was okay..." I gazed over to the brunette, "Wait a minute... what day is it today?" I asked, clearly very panicked. "It's August 1st... Why?" Ochaco asked, sceptically.  I felt my heart stop, "Oh my god... It's... Her parents' death anniversary..." Ochaco lifted her hand to cover her mouth in shock, "I didn't know... That's awful... Shoto, you need to talk to her... Look after her... Please..."
"You don't need to beg me to do that..." I smiled in response, dropping my bags next to the table and walked quietly over to Miya.

I placed my hand on her shoulder and gently turned her body to face me, "...Miya..." I whispered as I saw the tears filling in her eyes. She melted into my arms, sobbing quietly, and keeping her face buried into my shirt, and I felt my heart break, "I... can't... do... this..." she said through sobs.                                                      I hugged her tighter and whispered, "Breathe, I'm right here, you're alright..." She looked up at me, her dark eyes glazed with tears, "It's not just the anniversary which is upsetting me, although it makes what happened worse..." I narrowed my eyes, "M-Monoma was s-saying how I-I..."                                                                  "Calm down, take a breath and talk to me..." I gently ran my hands across her back and allowed her to calm down.
"He was saying how I-I was the reason my parents died... and that... it wasn't murder... it was-" Miya choked and buried her head back in my chest to cry again, obviously struggling to speak to me.

I could feel the anger boiling inside of me as I cradled the distraught girl in my arms; How could someone tear her down at her lowest points?                                                            Bakugou turned once he heard those words and you could tell that he was infuriated, being Miya's best friend – he wanted her to be happy. I lifted Miya's head and spoke in my usually deep voice, but the hint of anger was breaking through, "Wait here, I'm going to fix this..." I gently pulled away from her and stood up, allowing Ochaco to slip into my place as her best friend and cuddle her.
Bakugou went with me, and we found Monoma and his group standing in the hallway, still laughing about what he had done to Miya.
"She's so hopeless! Honestly, she should just quit! She's never going to be good enough to be a hero and 'avenge' her parents! She's a cry-baby! No wonder her parents ended it all!" The group were saying all of those things through laughter.                                                                      I tapped him firmly on the shoulder. When the blonde turned around, he was greeted with me, clearly aggravated.                                                   "Oh! Guys, look! The heroic son of Endeavor is coming to save his girl! Ha, who do you think you are?" He asked, thinking I would back down, but he was wrong.
I pinned him against the wall, and spoke with a steady, deep voice with a slight snarl, "You have no idea who and what you are messing with. Or, are you still salty that you lost her? So, what is it? Because I'm not taking this, and neither is Katsuki."                                                                                                                          Monoma smirked mischievously, "I didn't care about her, she was just a tool for my popularity! I didn't like her; I didn't love her. She was just my property – so I can treat her how I wi-"
