A/N: Big mistake. Yeah. Her Dad's dead. :// I messed up. But I'm fixing that; keep reading and it will all make sense.
I gulped and looked around as a slow song started to play.
"Ai'ight, this ones for all the couples in the room!" The d.j. said. A song I recognized came on the speakers, and something made me close my eyes and listen. I knew this song.
Softly we tremble tonight
Picture perfect fading smiles are all that's left in sight
I said I'd never leave, you'll never change
Not satisfied with where I am in life...
Am I supposed to be happy
When all I ever wanted; it comes with a price?
I could feel the tears threatening to slide out from under my eyelids. I had listened to this song countless times after my Father had died. I snapped my eyes opened at the sound of Forestt's voice.
"Willow? You there...?" I jumped and turned around so I was facing Forestt. "Oh. Yeah, sorry. I just know this song." He listened for a moment. "Cat and Mouse?"
I nodded. Forestt sighed. "I used to listen to this song when my parents died." Wow. That was a shocker. And here I was thinking that Forestt was a spoiled, rich only child.
"I'm sorry... it must be hard to live with no parents." I said. He nodded.
"You should be happy... with what you have. Two parents is a luxury." I cleared my throat. Right. Two parents.
I would rather not tell him though. I hated sympathy. I was a fighter. I wasn't going to mope around forever that my father had... died. You see, the "father" that sent me money wasn't actually my biological father, he was my step father.
My Mother had tried to start fresh with a new guy after my real dad died. It was fine at first. I thought my life might get back to normal...
My dreams were always, always crushed. That's why I found it better to not dream very much these days. Because the guy she married dumped her, like I said, for a younger lady.
Well, things didn't always go as planned. Like, I never thought I'd be having a conversation like this with Forestt. But at least I had one parent, no matter how crazy she may be. There was a little piece of light that I could hold on to. Maybe she would get better. At least I had hope.
"When did they die?" I asked, then wished I could take back my words. I was such an idiot; I always put my foot in my mouth! Obviously Forestt didn't want to talk about it. He looked uncomfortable.
"It was a while ago." He said, looking away. "I'd rather not talk about it.."
I ran my hands through my hair. "Right. Sorry about that. So... seriously. I don't dance. We might as well just leave," I glared at him playfully, trying to break the awkward tension.
He winked at me. "As long as you know how to grind you'll be alright."
Yeah... back to normal. Now I was just supposed to figure out whether I liked this "normal", perverted Forestt. I rolled my eyes. "Uh huh, sure. Well, I'll be off now."
I looked around, seeing if anyone was watching. Then, I elbowed Forestt in his gut.
"HAH!" I yelled as he groaned and doubled over. I laughed and started towards the door quickly, but Forestt was beside me in a second. My head spun. What the..? How did he get here so fast? Talk about vampire.
