"Rose, if you don't wake the hell up right now, you're going to be late," Dad yelled. His fists pounded on my door. I shot straight up and checked my clock. It read 7:20. School starts in 25 minutes. I quickly got in the shower, brushed my hair, and opened my closet. Dozens of band tshirts, skinny jeans, and belts. Heaven. I pulled on a black slipknot shirt, black skinny jeans, a green pyramid stud belt, my black hoodie, and my dirty black converse. I slugged my black Jansport backpack over my shoulder and trudged out the front door and onto the slick pavement. I slipped my Ipod out of my pocket and slammed the headphones into my ears.
I tried not to think about the horrible things that Gabriella would to do me today. God, I hated her. She was the queen bee, but also the cruelest creature you could ever encounter. She wears fake eyelashes, fake nails, and wears inches of caked on foundation. She has perfect blonde hair, and movie star teeth. Also, anyone can tell she goes to the tanning salon quite often, because of the orange hue to her skin. But I see right through the perfect disguise. She is the ugliest bitch in the world. Looking at her personality, of course.
I walked through the school doors as the all too familiar odor of yesterday's cafeteria lunch and football team sweat drifted through the entrance. I hung my head low and went straight to my locker. I tore down the "fag", "emo", and "go kill yourself" post-it notes I occasionally got on my locker. I did my combination and grabbed my books. I turned around and nearly smacked right into Gabriella. She had her usual 4 or 5 clones behind her who backed up everything she said. She grabbed my folder and pulled out my science homework. "Oh, what's this?" she mocked. She tore the paper right down the middle. I grabbed her square by the shoulders and shoved her backwards into one of the clones, who let out a shriek. Gabriella rolled her eyes and shoved me back against the lockers. I clenched my teeth and picked up my books, then dragged my feet into homeroom. I took the seat closest to the back, wanting to avoid any unwanted attention.
The rest of the classes flew by surprisingly fast, and before I knew it, it was lunch time. There was an empty table in the back of the cafeteria. I ate my lunch, glaring across the room at Gabrielle. As I got up to throw away my trash, somebody bumped into me, causing some of my lettuce to fly up into the air and land on both of us. I looked up.
"Sorry! Oh, I'm so sorry," I said.
"It's fine, don't worry about it," he said. He was kind of tall, skinny, and had long brown hair that hung in his face. He wore black rimmed glasses, skinny jeans, and had a "zombie" hoodie on. He smiled. "The names Mikey."
"Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Rose." He smiled again and pulled a piece of lettuce out of my hair. I blushed.
"Hey," he said, "I'm stopping by at the coffee shop later. Want to meet me there?"
I searched for something to say. Damn, he was cute.
"Uh, yeah sure! Sounds great. What time?"
"4:00?"
"Sounds great," I responded as he waved goodbye and smiled, then he walked out.
