I got to the woods first, and slumped down onto a tree stump until Mikey crept into view. I ran up to him and he embraced me in a hug.
"So what's up?" he asked.
"Well I just felt like I need to be around someone who cares about me."
"Is it your dad again?"
"Yes. He beats me everyday and I hate him so much. He always blames me for everything and he's always drunk ever since my mom died and-" Mikey silenced me with a soft, unexpected kiss. I pulled away. I searched his beautiful, deep hazel eyes. Even in the moonlight, I could see the passion on his face. I pulled him in for another kiss. His hands went down to the small of my back, pulling me closer. I laced my fingers around his neck. His kisses grew more and more passionate, more intense. We both pulled away and just stood there in each other's arms. He finally pulled me down onto the ground and we layed side by side on the ground. My head was resting on his arm, which was around my neck. I reached down and took his hand. The sky was beautiful. The full moon cast a radiant, silvery glow through trees. The endless stars shone bright and stunning.
"I love you, Rose." Mikey said.
"I love you too, Mikey," I said, nudging him. I wish I could just sit there and sleep with him forever. But I had to get home before my Dad noticed I was gone. I stood up, and so did he. "I feel awful, but I should probably go soon. I don't want to get home when my dad notices I'm gone."
"It's fine. I totally understand."
"Thanks."
"C'mon. I'll walk you home." He took my hand and we started walking down the sidewalk, slipping in and out of pools of light from streetlights. When we got to my yard, Mikey pulled me into one last meaningful goodnight kiss. We both smiled and then he boosted me up so I could get back in my window.
"I love you," I whispered down to him.
"I love you too." I was so glad my Dad hadn't caught me. I fell right asleep, floating on happiness.
