I giggled, I was nervous
I thought I should guess
"What, you're getting married?"
But then you said, "Yes."

I gathered my nonexistent courage
And told you that it was wonderful
And as much as I wanted you back

I then stood up
And put the phone back down
I turned to the fireplace
As it became the only sound

I stare at the flame
And see how well it's burning
Then I thought of all we've lost
Oh, how much of me it's killing
