He stared at his reflection for what felt like hours. The steam that fogged the mirror from Katsuki’s shower had since evaporated with how long he had been standing in his bathroom dripping wet naked, just… staring. The ticking of the bedroom clock was the only sound aside from his labored breathing. His wet body now shivering as the air conditioner kicked on. Was this the right thing to do? Was what he was going to do tomorrow something he truly wanted? Marrying one of his best friends for their social image seemed like the right idea, the benefits would be nice. Two pro heroes married, the media would go wild, it would be a big deal considering he’s an Omega and marrying a Beta.
But still...
This felt wrong . It wasn't how he imagined his wedding to be, or more so, who he was getting married to. He expected to be looking into heterochromia eyes, two toned hair with a scar, but that dream shattered and burned the moment he found out Shouto was living with his best friend. The paparazzi didn't help make the situation any better for his already shattered heart with their couple shots of them on dates or whatever. He remembered those photos clear as day, it happened nearly a few months ago but it felt like it was yesterday.
He was sitting at home when he came across the article online followed by thousands of texts from his so-called "squad", but the only one that really understood his pain was his future bride-to-be. Kyouka and him were both in the same boat. Madly in love with someone way out of their league and that they couldn't have, definitely not anymore since the news came out.. A month later he and Jirou came out publicly about dating for a year. Had to make the story believable right? It wasn't meant to last five months. They didn't expect this to be something they would go through with. Proposing to her just felt right? It was all over social media when it happened. Him kneeling down, putting the ring on her finger, kissing her. Even in that moment when they shared a kiss, his heart still yearned for those lips to be much more rough and a little chapped.
Katsuki had been surviving on autopilot for the last five months and that was soon to be his reality after tomorrow.
Not really all there, focusing on work and planning a wedding he was sure was for the best. Cause why not marry your best friend after both your crushes suddenly become a couple. Sorrow in pain together right? At least they would have each other. At least they would be able to deal with this pain and loss together. Katsuki had actually started developing something similar to romantic feelings for Jirou. Maybe it was to mask his pain or lie to himself, but they were out in public more holding each other's hand, fighting in the field. Have to give the people what they want right? Even his own mother knew it wasn’t real affection, that it was platonic feelings. His mother called him stupid for this, for giving up on his *’mate’*, fuck he hated when she went and used the technical terms for them. He was an Omega settling for a Beta when he lost all hope of having his Alpha. His Alpha. As if, even he knew that was a pipe dream and stupid as it was childish. He was ridiculous. Shouto was happy. Shouto was in another relationship. He was with his mate or whatever, and nothing that hurt more than any injuries a villain could inflict on him.
The blonde moved into his room to get dressed. Kirishima was holding his bachelor party at the apartment he shared with Deku. It was going to be weird seeing Shouto, the pain of not being able to be with him had simmered into a dull pulse, a dying flame. Maybe it really was just a crush. Pulling on a tank top then slowly buttoning up the white dress shirt he sat on the bed staring at the floor. This was it. His last night alone in this apartment. Jirou was going to move in the moment they returned home from their honeymoon. They would start their life together and forget the pain of a love they could never have. It was for the best.
