I couldn't sleep well that night. My stomach had dropped bad and I was thinking of stuff. I only slept for a few hours so when I woke up I still felt tired and like I wanted to go back to bed and rest some more. But I didn't want to oversleep so I got up and did my morning routine, shower, get dressed, get my delicious Dragon fruit cereal and walk outside.
You know the usual. I opened the door and took a deep breath of the sweet air of the outside world. The sun shined brightly, The air warm and soft like always. The ground fluffy and cloudy and the pink smooth sky looking beautiful as always. I loved the mornings in the Cloud Kingdom, The air always so sweet and around me was quiet. So peaceful and so calm. Angels flew above in the sky, doing whatever they do.
I walk around the Peaceful Palace and hear around it to check the garden but when I turn I don't see a garden I see a fair? Going on in the Cloud Kingdom? It looks like they are celebrating something why didn't Elizabeth tell me! There are balloons and rides and even a gigantic Ferris wheel with bright multicolor lights! They are barely setting it up too, countless Angels are constructing it. I was quite curious what this all was about so I go up to a male Angel working on a hot dog stand and I ask him why they are setting up a fair which reminded me exactly how this one fair on the beach looked like. My mother would always take me there when we visited the sandy beach. I even broke my nose in the mirror maze once. The crowd was cheering until I broke my nose. It bleeds.
"Hey um what are you guys doing is it Elizabeth's birthday or something what's with the whole Country Fair look?"
"Oh, you mean the festival? We are just showing our respect to our now fallen King Gabriel, He was the King of the Cloud Kingdom back when it was named Heaven! Now with Elizabeth in charge, it was renamed years ago. Personally, I prefer the name Heaven but whatever she is the Princess and leader of this crumby afterlife. I would enter the gates of heaven but I am afraid to enter the unknown bright light!" The man in a crony husky voice complained.
"Oh that's cool, wait so what happen to the last King?" I ask.
"Last King? He was king 20 years ago son not so long ago but damn I wish he was still King. No offense the Princess had made some great changes to this place but the good old days with King Gabriel just hits different. Anyways kiddo the fair and its rides and games should be ready by sundown so if you aren't gonna help work on the annual local fair then leave. " He smocked off.
Well, that was a rude old man. I decided to just leave. Also interesting that there was a ruler before Elizabeth. I guess that should be an obvious thing to me but I just never thought about it. When I turn around I see Roxanne and Jamie walking towards me. They must have also heard of the annual fair.
"Howdy Leo it is us Jamie, Roxanne, and Tucker. I see you made it to the festival thing, Oh I can't wait for tonight!" Jamie greets me shaking my hand.
"Oh, sup Leo." Roxanne causally greets.
Behind Roxanne and Jamie, I could see Tucker. He seemed the same, quiet and short. He was facing down, he glances up and notices me staring at him. I stop staring at him.
"Oh hey, guys nice to see you. Almost forgot you live in the Cloud Kingdom now." I awkwardly Murmured.
"Yeah, we are also still getting used to our new home, Anyways Would you like to join us in helping setting up the place? There's never enough people to finish up the fair in time so we always gladly volunteer for help" Jamie Requested.
