Part 1

Y/n let out a small yawn. She's done her before-bed ritual of brushing her teeth and putting on her favorite pajamas, and now she just wanted for her daddy to come and read her a bedtime story. She wondered if he'd read her Doctor Seuss again, she liked Doctor Seuss. Y/n pulled herself up onto her bed. She smiled, waiting for her daddy to walk threw to door any moment now. Any second. Y/n sat on her bed and waited, kicking her legs back in forth to keep awake. Eyeing her alarm clock showing the time. She sighed, daddy isn't coming, is he? Y/n sniffed. She didn't wanna hear a story anyways. Y/n felt angry, he promised her a story. Y/n jumped off her bed and grabbed her blankey, it was small and dirty, almost falling apart at the seams. Y/n would cry if anyone touched it. She wrapped it around her like a cape and ran out her room, blurry-eyed from rage tears.

"What are you doing out of bed?" Arms wrapped around her torso, lifting her into big arms. Y/n looked up at her daddy and frowned.

"You weren't coming," She pouted.

"I was," Kano scoffed, "I'm just a little late,"

"You're very late, two.., two hundred minutes late!" She grumbled, crossing her arms. Kano helped back a

"That long?" He gasped, "Gosh, oh so long, how could I've kept you waiting too long I'm sorry my spoiled princess"

"Don't make fun of me," She mumbled, she hated being called princess.

"Ok ok, what book do you want to read?"

"Doctor Seuss!" She gleamed, "Doctor Seuss!"

Kano laughed. "You always pick doctor Seuss, why not something new?"

"Never!" Y/n cried out, he always tries to change her mind about Doctor Seuss, but she'll never change. Kano let out an airy laugh.

"Alright fine, Doctor Seuss it is,"

Kano walked Y/n back to her room. Witch is a room connected to his room, so he can get into her room quickly if anything bad happened. Kano was paranoid when it came to his daughter. Kano never wanted kids, but as soon as he set his eye on the big doe eyes of his newborn daughter he finally found something worth more than gold. Kano walked over to her bed and tossed her onto the bed. She giggled as she bounced on the bed. Y/n quickly got under the sheets as Kano dug in a pile of children's books looking for the right one.

"Any book in particular?"

"Partikular?" She said confused, Kano laughed.

"Which doctor Seuss book do you wanna hear?"

"Horton hears a who!"

Kano pulled the book from the pile and opened it to the first page of the book. Y/n snuggled into her bed, hugging her blankey. Kano loudly cleared his throat and started to read.

"On the fifteenth of May, in the jungle of Nool, in the heat of the day, in the cool of the pool, he was splashing..., enjoying the jungle's great joys...When Horton the elephant heard a small noise."

Y/n giggled, she always thought he sounded funny when rhyming. It must be his accent. Y/n aways pouted and whined asking why she didn't sound like him. He said he was raised in Australia, all the way around the world. So his voice was different.

"So Horton stopped splashing. He looked towards the sound. "That's funny,' thought Horton. "There's no one around." Then he heard it again! Just a faint yelp. As if some tiny person were calling for help. "I'll help you," said Horton. "But who are you? Where?" He looked and looked. He could see nothing there but a speck of dust blowing past threw the air."
