Christina and I were already in the car driving to Abby's show.
Back at home when Andrew opened the door for her she didn't really question why he was over. I was fine with that until she brought up Brandon.
"So, what's new with Brandon?" She asked.
"Um I don't wanna talk about it." I looked out the window to avoid eye contact with her. She didn't ask anything after that and we drove for a while in silence with the exception of the radio playing.
the drive was surprisingly short into the city and we're soon turning into the parking lot of the building where Abby was performing.
There was a sign at the entrance of the door with Abby's group name on it. "Royal Heat." I shook my head and laughed at the cliche name.
Christina went in to find us some seats and I stayed in the lobby buying some snacks to eat during the show. I got some water, a bag of cookies, and chocolate.
I went in and tried to find Christina. It was pretty hard trying to walk with those snacks in hand while I yell out Christina's name.
I leaned against a wall and got my phone out of my back pocket. There was a text there from Christina.
"There's no seats near the front. I found one but.. just for me.. srry! There's a seat a few rows behind me. Find it before someone gets it! -Christina"
I grumbled and just walked around. I didn't bother looking for the empty seat so I just went near the back to find any empty seat for me.
About 6 rows back from where Christina was I found an empty row. I sat in the middle and put all the snacks on my lap, and the water on the floor in between my legs.
I texted Christina a few hateful messages before the lights dimmed a little and the lights on the stage grew brighter.
I put my phone away and focused on the stage. A few people walked in and occupied the empty row I was in. People sat on either side of me so I kept my hands on my lap, and not on the arm rests.
A guy with red hat opens up the show with a solo. He's on the floor, on his hands, upside down and spinning, and he's amazing.
"Wow." I say to myself. I watch his fast movements as the curtain draw back more, showing the rest of the team. All in matching outfits. Abby is in the front left corner, looking so happy.
"They look great don't they?" I look next to me, and gasp. Its Brandon.
What was he doing here? Did he know I was going to be here tonight, or did he follow me. If he followed me did he see me go home with Andrew?
"What are you doing here?" I whisper to him, and look back to the stage Trying to not let it show that my breathing has accelerated.
"I came to see my Cousin open the show." His chin flicks forward to the stage.
That was his cousin?
"Okay." I stand up from my seat, forgetting all the snacks I had and try to leave. Brandon stands up and blocks my path, so I turn around to go the other way but he grabs my wrist.
"Can we go talk?" He asks me. His hands tight around my wrists.
"No. I'm here to support my friend." I try to pull my wrists away but he won't let go.
"Please. Emily, please." His eyes are pleading me to talk with him. But I can't leave. Its Abby's first show. I can't leave to go hear whatever excuse he has to say.
I sit back in my seat, so the people behind us could see and Brandon sits back next to me.
"I'm glad you're here. I wanted to talk to you earlier but.. your boyfriend pulled you away." He grabs my hand and squeezes them. I pull my hands away and put them on my lap.
"Andrew.. he's not my boyfriend. He's just a really good friend." I look away from his gaze and look to the stage again.
"Well, I'm glad I have a chance to talk with you now. But it would be better to do it somewhere, quieter." He tells a little loud, trying to talk to me over the music.
I look at him and back to the stage and then down to my feet. He knows what I'm thinking.
"The show is going to go on for another 20 minuets. We have time to talk before your friend notices."
I take a deep breathe and nod my head. I want to know his excuse for why he did that. He grabs my hands and takes us outside.
