Cecelia took a deep breath and turned to her best friend, Blair, before cutting the final few pieces of her hair. It was nothing too drastic, but enough so her long blonde hair would now graze her collarbones. Blair then helped her dye it to a darker caramel color to ensure that she would be safe from him.

"Honey, are you sure you want to do this?" Blair asked while holding Cecelia's shaking hands. She looked into the mirror and nodded, knowing this was the only way for her to start a new life, to finally be happy, free. The police do nothing for her, they always say unless there is evidence of his actions that there is nothing they can do. Even if she is bruised and bleeding, it isn't enough. She had to leave and start over. Far away from him.

Blair took off her favorite necklace that the two had once bought years ago at a boutique downtown. It was a locket shaped like a heart with a photo of the two of them hugging inside of it. Blair gave it to Cecelia and said "Here, it's yours. I don't know when I'll see you again and this way I can be kept close to you". They both shared a laugh and Cecelia asked if she was sure about this, knowing how much her best friend loved this necklace. Blair nodded and embraced Cecelia before helping her collect her final items.

They gathered only the essentials into a large backpack knowing that she can't carry everything on a bus to her new life. Earlier, Cecelia took as much cash as she could from her bank accounts so she could sustain herself in a new town before finding a new job. "Call me when you get somewhere safe and I can send you some more money to help out," Blair said while packing clothes for Cecelia into the backpack.

"Seriously Blair, this means so much to me. Thank you for everything. I'll call you as soon as I feel safe again and find somewhere to live."

"Of course, I love you, forever," Blair replied.

The two finished packing for Cecelia and she was soon to begin her journey and new life. "So this is it, huh?" Blair questioned, making the both of them tear up.

"I wish it didn't have to be this way, but I can't stay with him anymore" she sighed.

"I know, I know. Let's go before he gets back. I miss you already, cutie" Blair whispered before helping Cecelia take her stuff to the car.

Blair dropped Cecelia off at the Greyhound bus station and blew her a kiss as she walked towards her freedom. "

"It's almost over" Cecelia mumbled to herself while luging her backpack into the station.
